Artificial intelligence is transforming industries around the world. Religious leaders say it is also entering a much older battlefield.

Priests, imams and rabbis are being invited to Rome for a training program examining concerns about artificial intelligence being used in occult practices and digital deception.

The program, called the “Course on the Ministry of Exorcism and Prayer of Deliverance,” will be held at the Vatican affiliated university Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum. About 170 participants from different religious traditions are expected to attend.

The university says the course offers “a solid foundation of theological, canonical, medical and psychological knowledge for those who work or wish to collaborate in discernment and liberation ministry.”

Father Luis Ramirez Almanza, a Mexican priest who organizes the annual course, warned that artificial intelligence carries enormous power.

“Artificial intelligence is a great power,” Almanza said.

“A force for both good and evil and can therefore be used for devil worshipping.”

The question is whether believers are ready to stand firm in truth in a world where the battlefield now includes the digital realm.

Huh? Occult Practices? They imagine that AI can examine forty thousand spells and print out a scroll for a new demon?
Actually, suddenly I can see incels asking for a spell for a big-tiddy succubus five-feet tall with a six-foot pussy… But serious practitioners? I really can’t see a book of shadows from an AI…

This would make a great villain for a Dr. Strange movie. Setting 5000 computers to summoning demons or something. Not really a threat in this world, though.

I’m just going to say, as long as rich CEOs(*) remain obsessed with replacing perfectly good workers, artists, and moderators with sloppy AI, sloppy AI of which the production and maintenance costs are so high they will make my electric bill go up AND make GPUs and smart TVs a lot more expensive; well as long as that keeps happening AI as it currently exists is firmly near the top of my shitlist.

And no sexy AI driven gynoid waifu or occult AI summoned horny succubus waifu will be enough to make up for it.

For now, AI is useful in few niche sectors, like medical imaging interpretation. The overwhelming majority of generative AI is soulless slop with an unhealthy side of hallucination. Companies tried to use it to code software but they had to rehire most if not all of the fired staff, because AI is still fucking dumb. It does not differentiate between good and bad coding, because it has no capacity for understanding what it is actually doing. Then again, one could say the same for the tech bro oligarchs, who push destructive social transformation, without understanding that the pitchforks will be for them.
