It's not your holiday, you supercilious twatwaffle. According to biblical scholars, your Jesus was born in the spring. Your religion hijacked pre-christian festivals and holy days because you;

1) didn't fucking have any, and
2) thought you could get more Pagans to drink the kool-aid if you tried to convince them that their holidays could be easily celebrated with a christian focus.

...and they can, if you take out the seasonal references, emphasis on light/fertility and recognition of the solstices.

Of course, failing in that, killing them worked just as well, no?

None of the 'holidays' you people celebrate are actually yours. You wouldn't even have a religion if you didn't steal from pre-christians, yet every year non-christians and Atheists have to hear this same old tired fucking lie, and the stupid historical revisionism you spout and false claims of 'the real reason for the season'.

In celebration of the supposed birth of your supposed savior who is supposedly co-equal with your supposed God at a time of year he, even if he did exist, was most assuredly not born.

For most Christians I'm happy for their joy though I don't see how being jayful by delusion is any more laudable than being drunk or otherwise high. As for you personally, I don't give a big rat's ass if you're happy or not.

The unrelenting river of verbal diarrhea that comes out of Pat's mouth reminds me alternately of a low-budget kid's show MC from the 1960's and the ramblings of a paranoid schizophrenic. Sort of a severely delusional Rain Man talking down to people that he has come to believe are far more stupid than he is. Or, perhaps a sad, angry version of Wile E. Coyote, building elaborate but doomed traps for the Road Runner that look impressive to the uneducated.

Ignoring the fact that Christians stole Christmas in the first place, why would I be miserable and why would I want anyone else to be miserable?

We are not all as small-minded as fundies, who seem to believe that anybody who is different to them should have their lives made as rotten as possible.

Atheists also give each other Christmas gifts, you know. I have a tree (with lights) in my house every year, because my wife is a believer. It doesn't make me either happy or unhappy, and its base makes a good spot to place gifts.

Okay, so syrupy Christmas music in shopping malls can make me grind my teeth, but I get over it and would hardly call it making me miserable. It just makes me want to shop faster and probably save some money - like they say, every cloud has a silver lining.

Pat, WE* don't mind if you enjoy Christmas carols....WE don't mind if you enjoy giving gifts to each other....WE don't mind you lighting trees, which are indeed a beautiful thing....We do enjoy happiness for all & we hate seeing others miserable....WE don't want to steal your holiday.

WE do, however...wish to acknowledge that there are other people in this great nation of ours that don't celebrate Christmas...

WE who sing carols, give gifts to each other & light trees for the Winter Solstice (which you supplanted and Christianized with your Christ-Mass)....WE who light candles on the Menorah, play Dreidel & eat potato latkes....WE who may be lighting a Kinara & celebrating our African heritage...WE who simply fast in rememberance of the assassination of Ali...WE we celebrate the events involving the climactic battle in the Mahabharata and the wisdom Bhagavad Gita...

...Or, simply WE who sing Christmas carols, give gifts to each other & have lighted trees and DO NOT HAVE YOUR FREAKING HANG-UPS ABOUT EVERYTHING!

You see, "Happy Holidays" is much easier to say to a stranger or someone you don't totally know than "Have a grand ol' Christmas-Yule-Hanukkah-Kwanzaa-Muharram-Kurukshetra Festival and a Happy New (Gregorian Calendar)Year"! If you know the person's faith without question...THEN you say "Merry/Happy Holiday-In-Question".

There is no war on Christmas...

Ironic since the winter solstice holiday was stolen from the Pagans by Christians and turned into Christmas. So for another year we're going to be treated with more "How dare they steal our holiday which we stole from the pagans?" crap.

I for one want everyone to be happy during the winter holiday season. In the middle of the cold & dark months, we need a reason to celebrate & be happy. But Christians are always trying to claim the holiday as theirs and theirs alone, and if you don't celebrate it correctly (like by saying "Happy Holidays"), they get very upset.

If there's anything I'm miserable about the holiday season, it's the fact that my wife enjoys watching cheesy-ass Christmas shows on the Hallmark channel and getting a bunch of family members together who don't like each other but pretend they do for a few hours just so they can have dinner together.

religous sect known as the Puritans.

The Puritans were so named becuase of their
attempts to "purify" the Christian church by
adopting more basic forms of worship. And
among their chief targets was anything that
could be tied to the practices of the
Roman Catholic Church -- and, by extension
the Anglican, or Church of England.

Including the celebration of Christmas.

Driven by Puritan notions of religious purity,
in 1647 Parliament banned the celebration of Christmas.
Gone were such pagan ideas as Christmas Trees,
feasting, caroling, and decorations
(and, indeed, they were borrowed from Pagan winter celebrations) .
Nativity scenes were banned as the worship of idols.
Indeed, even the word Christmas was frowned upon as
taking the Lord's name in vain.
