Thread Warning - 10 Contradictions of Gender Ideology:
1. Don’t pathologise trans identity. However, you must offer treatment for gender dysphoria with medication and surgery.
When I googled "pathologize" it gave the definition as "regard or treat (someone or something) as psychologically abnormal or unhealthy." So, yeah, you shouldn't regard trans identity as psychologically abnormal or unhealthy. There's a difference between being trans and the body/mind mismatch most trans people suffer from that requires medical intervention. I will still be trans after I've fixed my body. It's because you think being trans in and of itself means that there is something wrong with me and that is why you think this is a contradiction. But there's nothing wrong with being trans.
2. Only refer to people by language they want. However, it is fine for us to label you “cis”. (
Oh go fuck yourself you disingenuous shit-brained fuckwad. Are these idiots really upset by being called cisgender? Do they get all bent out of shape when people call them heterosexual too? Cis just means "not trans" basically. Even if you think being trans isn't real, there are still trans people out there living their trans lives and other people who aren't. So what, I'm guessing you'd rather be called "normal"? Or maybe you just want to erase the whole concept of being trans from human thought, and so even words referring to it's opposite need to go because they lend transness some bit of space in our minds? Or maybe you're just an idiot who's mad that people push back when you misgender people and you're grasping desperately for something anything that you can use to accuse us of hypocracy? Well, you sound like a fucking idiot, moron.
3. The real self is fundamentally separate from the material body. However, transforming one’s body can be crucial for personal wholeness.
What the fuck are you even talking about? One need not believe in any kind of matter/spirit dualism to accept the reality of gender identity. I mean, I think our "real self" is a product of how our brains are wired, so very much a part of our material bodies.
Not that believing in souls and accepting the reality of gender identity would actually be a contradiction. I mean, whether it's because of brain wiring or because of the nature of one's soul, if one's mind is configured for a female body and one's body is male (or vice versa) it might cause one some distress. In fact, it often does. Even from a dualistic perspective, our minds and bodies are not separated. We exist as both, at least as long as we're alive, so why shouldn't the state of one impact another? This is how you sound: I don't know why you bothered getting that laser eye surgery. Our true selves are separate from our bodies so why do you need good eyesight to feel whole?
Though yeah, I get it. You just can't wrap your head around the idea that someone could have an internal sense of their sex that doesn't match their body. Maybe spend some time learning at least a little bit about how brains work. Or just some basic biology. Everywhere you look nature likes to thumb it's nose at the silly lines we like to draw between things.
4. Gender identity is a social construct. However, authentic identity may be attached to stereotypical male and female dispositions.
Gender identity isn't a social construct. Gender roles largely are. Gender identity is a product of our brain wiring. Personally I think a big problem here is that the word "gender" is overloaded. It means too many different things that it's often hard to talk about this stuff. Especially when you get people like this intentionally misusing terms as a form if dishonest argument.
Also, you don't think authentic identity may be attached to stereotypical male and female dispositions? So all of the cisgender (yeah, cisgender) women and men who tend to stay within theirs typical gender roles are what, all living a lie? Look, being trans isn't about wanting to act out traditional gender roles of the "opposite sex"! Lots of trans people, even ones who stick within the gender binary, are gender non-conforming.
But maybe, just maybe, I act like a woman (whatever that means) because I am a woman. You say I'm reducing womanhood to some set of stereotypical behaviors? I'm just being myself. But you'll pick apart everything I do while ignoring the billions of cisgender women who look and act just like me. Why is it they can live authentically but I can't?
5. People should be free to believe in what they want. However, you must see the world through our ideological lens.
What, and you don't think everybody needs to see the world through your ideological lens? Anyway, medical science confirms the reality of gender identity. After that it's only a question of whether you think trans people should be treated with respect like human beings. That's what you seem to have a problem with.
6. The trans community (1% of the population) must be listened to. However, the experiences of detransitioners (1% of trans community) should be ignored.
Not ignored. But not used for dishonest anti-trans propaganda either. Using your own numbers here, 99% of people who transition are happy having done so. Also, you act like cis people are doing trans people some huge favor by listening to us. Oh, trans people are only 1% of the population? How fortunate those peons are that we deign to cast our eyes upon them every so often.
7. Children should not be able to smoke, drink alcohol, vote or get a tattoo. However, they should be able to consent to potentially irreversible medication.
Medication to treat a medical condition. They don't do more than puberty blockers (which aren't permanent) until a kid is at least a teenager, and usually older than when they'd go through normal puberty. And they take care to make sure a kid is really trans before letting them get hormones.
Also, don't act like you actually care about trans kids. You want them to suffer living through a puberty that will turn their bodies into a constant torture chamber.
8. You must understand us. However, you can never understand us because you haven’t had our lived experience.
Understanding the concept of gender identity isn't that hard, except for those like you whose rigid gender ideology won't let them think about it. But I don't need you to understand me, I just need you to leave me alone and let me live my life in peace.
9. If the media report a crime and specify it was committed by a trans person, this is transphobia.
Because it probably isn't really relevant? I mean, do we also need point out every time someone accused of a crime is Muslim or atheist, gay or lesbian? Maybe... if your biggest priority is demonizing a large group of people by pointing to a few assholes within their ranks.
However, reporting an accolade and failing to mention the person is trans is erasure.
Right, says the person who clearly wants to erase trans people. You know, maybe we're a bit sick of people spreading evil lies about us being dangerous mentally unstable perverts, and we think that showing trans people in a positive light is a necessary remedy to your hateful dishonest bullshit?
10. Be kind. However, it’s okay for us to throw slurs at those we disagree with.
Some trans people or allies called you mean names and this is supposed to be a contradiction in "gender ideology"? Fuck you. Trans people get abuse hurled at us constantly from noodle-brained globs of shit like you constantly. I guess I don't feel the need to be civil with people who want to deny me my right to exist.
