Unknown harassers #racist rawstory.com

A Black single mom, along with her foster daughter, are being forced from their Pennsylvania home following a series of hate crimes, including soaking her front porch in gasoline while she wasn’t home.

According to WTAE, local police in Pitcarin have called in the FBI to help with the investigation that began with a racial slur painted on the side of Courtney Mike-Wilson’s car.

“I probably didn’t actually see this till maybe late afternoon when I was putting stuff into the car and was like, ‘What is this?’” Mike-Wilson explained.

A few days later, she discovered dodge-balls her foster daughter Nariya plays with slashed with a knife and left on her doormat.

“That morning they were popped in front of my door just so I can’t miss them. I think that’s what scares me right there is you have no problem coming on my front porch,” she said.

On Wednesday, the stalker struck again, dousing the front porch and her daughter’s toys with gasoline, with a note left behind reading: “Now we’re done.”

Despite the police and FBI investigation, Mike-Wilson has moved her daughter in with family members while she looks for a new place to live, saying she fears for their lives.

Columbia Road Baptist Church elders #fundie rawstory.com

An Ohio judge sentenced a “delusional” former youth pastor to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing a teenage member of the church where he served as a volunteer.

Brian Mitchell pleaded guilty Thursday to four counts of sexual battery, and a Cuyahoga County judge rejected his attorney’s recommendation for house arrest but did not impose the maximum 20-year prison term, reported the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Report Advertisement
The 31-year-old Mitchell, a father of three children under age 8, began sending text messages to the victim, then 16 years old, that quickly turned to complaints about his marriage.

The girl, who told the judge in a letter that she had sought spiritual guidance from Mitchell, said she was afraid to ask the volunteer to stop sending the texts because he was a respected and powerful member of Columbia Road Baptist Church in North Olmsted.

Church leaders heard from a congregant about the texts, which stopped for awhile, but Mitchell eventually resumed his messages and then kissed her after driving the girl home in August 2015.

The next time he drove her home, she said, he began sexually abusing her, and the abuse continued for another month.

“I did not give him permission,” the girl told the court in her letter. “I clearly said ‘no, didn’t want to.’ I felt like he tricked me.”

The girl became lost interest in school, sports and work, and she was too depressed to get out of bed.

She told the court she still suffered from nightmares and other symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Church leaders spoke to Mitchell the day after learning of the sex abuse in November and then reported the case to police.

The girl’s mother testified during the sentencing hearing that church leaders also told the family not to come back to church until her daughter had apologized to Mitchell’s wife.

The family stopped going to the church, and Mitchell’s attorney said he had not heard that until the hearing.

The defense attorney, Ian Friedman, said Mitchell had been caught up in “an adrenaline- and lust-filled situation” after whirlwind of secret text and social media messages, but the judge sternly lectured the former church volunteer.

“Your delusional excuse — that there were emotions and love involved — is troubling,” said Judge Patrick Corrigan. “That’s extremely delusional.”

Brett Sanders #fundie rawstory.com

Students protesting concealed carry at the University of Texas Austin say that they feel targeted after a filmmaker produced a video that showed the violent murder of someone who looked like one of the activists.

Ana Lopez told Texas Standard that she helped organize the “Cocks Not Glocks” protest, which distributed dildos to make a point about gun violence.

Following the protest, Lopez said that one video response created by Brett Sanders made her fear for her personal safety.

In the video, a woman who Lopez said was meant to look like her is seen in her apartment with a sign from the gun safety group Moms Demand Action. The video includes news footage that shows the names and faces of real-life protesters.

During the video, a black man with his face covered by a bandana breaks into the student’s apartment. The student picks up a large dildo and points it at the man, who shoots the woman in the head, splattering blood against the wall. After calling the dead woman a “bitch,” the black man steals a television and flees.

“I started seeing images of my friends and colleagues and — footage from news coverage of this event,” Lopez recalled. “I didn’t want to watch the whole thing so I fast-forwarded it, and I saw the girl who looks like me getting shot in the head — It was terrifying.”

Lopez noted that the actress who was murdered in the film had the same hairstyle and “was wearing the same shirt that I wore for the protest.”

Sanders, who is described as an anarcho-libertarian and is best known for paying a $220 parking ticket with pennies, said the film was a “direct rebuttal to the lunacy that I saw happening down there in Austin.”

“I thought it was a very dangerous idea to do that – to announce to the world that you are unarmed, and you are going to be an easy target and an easy victim to some of the crazy criminals out there,” he explained. “It was just meant to be a girl that was part of their protest.”

Sanders also defended the use of a black man as the murderer.

“He just happened to be in my friend circle – and statistically, African-Americans are more prone to create violent crimes,” Sanders opined. “It does play into the stereotype, whether we like it or not. He was willing to play the part.”

A pro-gun activist with the group Students for Concealed Carry told The Dallas Morning News that Sanders’ video was “reprehensible.”

Mary Black #racist rawstory.com

An Idaho bus driver is out of a job after a student filmed her berating a Spanish-speaking student before pouring water on his head, reports KTVB.

The Northside Bus Company in Jerome, Idaho stated that driver Mary Black has been dismissed after video of her pouring water on eighth grader Miguel Martinez, while telling him he was in America and needed to speak English, went viral.

According to student Brayan Alverez, he began shooting the video after Black got out of her seat and came back in the bus to accuse Martinez of throwing a water bottle.

“She tried to take his phone away and when she didn’t get to do that, she just grabbed the water bottle and started getting him wet,” Alverez explained.

When Martinez attempted to talk to her she went into a rant about speaking English.

“I don’t understand Spanish. I’m not going to learn it. I live in America and it’s an English-speaking country. So if you want to speak to me, speak to me in English,” Black can be heard yelling in the video.

According to Juan Espino, the father of another student who rides on Black’s bus, this is not the first time she has demanded English-only while she’s driving.

“He told me he was told by the bus driver that it was not allowed to speak in Spanish while riding the bus,” Espino said, adding that he contacted the bus company about Black only to get no answer initially.

“When I talked to one of the other kids, he told me that when that took place the driver would turn, when something like that happened, the driver would turn the cameras off,” Espino said, which is why he gave the video to Northside.

“It’s not something that we wish for, and not something that I would want to, but there will be consequences in everything that you do in life will be consequences,” Espino explained.

Jared Fogle #fundie rawstory.com

Former Subway sandwich pitchman Jared Fogle, in jail for his conviction on child pornography and sex with minors charges, blamed the parents of one of his female victims for her “destructive behaviors.”

Fogle, 38, who became famous after shedding weight on a diet that included sandwiches from the fast-food chain, pleaded guilty in November 2015 to charges of child pornography and traveling for illicit paid sex with minors.

Fogle, in a response filed on Thursday to a civil lawsuit brought on behalf of the girl, argued her parents should be third-party defendants alongside him. The parents may be liable for all or part of the victim’s claims against him, according to the court documents.

The victim, who was surreptitiously videotaped by an associate of Fogle for pornography, which became a part of the case against Fogle, filed her lawsuit in March. Her case seeks monetary damages for personal injuries and mental anguish.

The allegations are separate from the charges for which Fogle is serving a 15-1/2-year prison sentence, which was upheld by a U.S. appeals court in Chicago in June.

An attorney for Fogle declined to comment. Attorneys for the victim did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Fogle’s motion says the parents’ “hateful and abusive” relationship toward each other, alcohol abuse and a lack of parental supervision caused emotional distress and depression suffered by their daughter, and paved the way for several “destructive behaviors” in which she engaged.

The parents are liable for her “harmful activities” like alcohol abuse, substance abuse, self-mutilation, and sexual activity with multiple partners, Fogle’s complaint says.

Juanita Gomez #fundie rawstory.com

An Oklahoma City woman is accused of jamming a crucifix down her daughter’s throat and killing her because she believed the younger woman was possessed by the devil.

Juanita Gomez was charged with first-degree murder in the brutal slaying of her 33-year-old daughter, Geneva Gomez, reported KFOR-TV.

Police were called to the mother’s home Saturday afternoon to check on her well-being, and they found her daughter lying on the ground with her body positioned in the shape of a cross and a large crucifix placed on her chest.

Gomez had swollen hands and bruises on her arms that she told police were the result of her efforts to remove Satan from her daughter’s body.

Court records show Juanita Gomez believed her daughter was suffering from demonic possession and shoved the crucifix and a religious medallion down her throat until blood poured from her mouth.

She then watched her daughter die and positioned her remains into a cross.

Juanita Gomez was arrested in 2003 on drug and weapons charges, but served no jail time after pleading guilty to possession of drug proceeds, and neighbors said she was quiet and kept to herself.

“She didn’t really talk to other people, she was just in her own little world,” a neighbor told the TV station.

Gomez remains held without bond and was scheduled to appear Tuesday morning in court.

Jared Taylor #racist rawstory.com

A man described as the “intellectual godfather” of the racist alt-right movement insists he isn’t a white supremacist — and says Republican voters are more racist than the Republican establishment realizes.

Jared Taylor, the editor of the magazine American Renaissance, has been prominently featured in a new Hillary Clinton campaign ad that links her rival Donald Trump to a variety of racists. But Taylor told The Daily Caller that he objects to being portrayed as a white supremacist.

“Presumably a white supremacist is someone who wants to rule over people of other races,” he explained. “We have no such desire. Nor do people on the alt right think that whites are a superior race. In many respects Asians are more objectively superior to whites and certainly athletically blacks are probably superior to whites.”

Taylor previously made headlines after placing thousands of robocalls urging GOP primary voters to support Trump. He said the alt-right movement has been “very very rapidly” growing thanks in part to white insecurities and the Black Lives Matter movement.

“The notion that whites are responsible for the failures of all non-whites,” Taylor told the Daily Caller. “White people get beaten over the head every day with this kind of thing, and they reject that. They also reject the idea that they should cheerfully become a minority in their own country. And things like the Black Lives Matter movement have probably swelled our ranks far more than anything Hillary Clinton could ever do for us.”

In a speech on Thursday, Clinton described the alt-right as “a paranoid fringe in our politics, steeped in racial resentment.” She said the racist movement had effectively taken over the Republican Party.

Taylor said that mainstream Republicans were mystified by the rapid rise of Trump because they didn’t understand the racist views of their own voter base.

“They have been deliberately blind to the frustrations of their natural constituency. They have bought the myths about race. They’ve swallowed that completely. In terms of the interchangeability of races, of the idea that America is up for grabs, that whoever can manage to sneak in more or less belongs to them – they’re no different from the Democrats,” Taylor said.

Mercy Hospital and Medical Center #fundie rawstory.com

A Chicago-area woman who showed up at her doctor’s office in pain and bleeding from a dislodged IUD was told that nothing could be done because his practice was affiliated with a Catholic hospital network which opposes birth control.

According to Rewire, Melanie Jones, 28, slipped in her bathroom causing her copper IUD to shift and stab her internally. After getting an appointment to see her doctor, she was told that his “hands were tied” and he couldn’t help her due to restrictions placed upon him and other providers in the Mercy Hospital and Medical Center system.

“I think my first feeling was shock,” Jones said in an interview. “I thought that eventually they were going to recognize that my health was the top priority.”

“It felt heartbreaking,” Jones recalled. “It felt like they were telling me that I had done something wrong, that I had made a mistake and therefore they were not going to help me; that they stigmatized me, saying that I was doing something wrong, when I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m doing something that’s well within my legal rights.”

What surprised Jones even more was when she was informed that no one in her health plan’s network would help because all of the providers were affiliated with the Catholic church which has strict policies when it comes to birth control .

Unable to afford a visit to an out of network emergency room, Jones sought the help of the Illinois ACLU where she was advised to contact her insurance company and change the hospital network in her plan.

Jones was able to get the IUD removed — five days after she first visited her doctor — but according to the ACLU, she should consider herself lucky since her insurance company representative said the rapid change to her plan wasn’t the norm.

“She told Ms. Jones that that process [of switching networks] would take her a month, and that she should feel fortunate because sometimes switching networks takes up to six months or even a year,” the ACLU of Illinois wrote in their complaint.

Scottie Nell Hughes #racist rawstory.com

CNN contributor and Trump campaign surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes accused Hillary Clinton of the meeting the “definition of bigotry” for speaking out against racists and white supremacy.

During a Sunday panel discussion on CNN, MTV correspondent Jamil Smith argued that Trump’s hiring of Breitbart chief Steve Bannon showed that GOP presidential campaign was a “rebranding of white supremacy.”

“I would say that [Breitbart is] part of the white supremacist machine,” Smith asserted. “They are trying to make sure these views become mainstream. And I think, through Trump, they are finding a way to do that.”

Hughes, however, accused the media of “redefining what fair means in this election.”

“Hillary Clinton’s problem, she’s having a problem with engagement,” Hughes opined. “And she’s worried about in November, the same very valuable demographic of the African-American vote is not going to be as engaged as they were in 2008 and 2012 to get out and vote.”

According to the pundit, Trump had been right to call Clinton a “bigot” because the term was not only about racial discrimination.

“Bigotry, if you look at the definition, it’s about someone who’s small-minded and sits there and directs hate towards a certain group,” she explained. “Hillary Clinton’s speech [attacking alt-right conservatives] was all about hate towards a group that, while my fellow counterpart might consider them to be very racist, it’s the exact opposite.”

“These are God-fearing, baby-loving, gun-toting, military-supporting, school choice-advocating Americans!” Hughes added. “And just because maybe there might be some, a part of a very small fringe group [of white supremacists] that read Breitbart — by sitting there and saying the entire website is white supremacy is kind of ridiculous as saying just because you have people that are anarchists and communists that read the Huffington Post, calling that newspaper establishment, [is like] saying that they’re pro-anarchy and they’re against the United States government.”

Smith clarified Breitbart’s role in promoting white supremacy.

“What they present is the view of the white supremacist mentality through their coverage,” he observed. “It’s not necessarily saying, ‘Well, everyone who works there is a white supremacist.’ I don’t know that.”

“The point is to say, what kind of viewpoint did they reflect? And it’s undeniable that they reflect a white supremacist view if you looked over their coverage over the last several years.”

Patsy Capshaw Skipper #racist rawstory.com

The Republican mayor of Midland City, Alabama got nasty on Facebook after losing her seat to a black candidate in this week’s mayoral election.

“I lost. The ni**er won,” griped Mayor Patsy Capshaw Skipper when someone asked her how the election turned out.

WTVY said that Skipper was defeated by Jo Ann Bennett Grimsley, former assistant city clerk and an employee of the Dale County government for 27 years. She has previously served as the city’s water clerk and county court clerk.

Mayor Skipper was named interim mayor last February when her husband — former Mayor Virgil Skipper — retired for health reasons. County officials voted 3 to 1 for Patsy Skipper to take over her husband’s position.

Voters, however, preferred to see Grimsley at the city helm, casting 233 votes for Grimsley as opposed to Skipper’s 148.

Skipper appears to have made her Facebook timeline private, but posts from 2015 are visible. She posted various pro-Christian and pro-Republican memes, including an image of the White House that reads “I want a White House that honors God. Share if you agree!” and another with a quote by Republican former Pres. Ronald Reagan that reads, “We are never defeated unless we give up on God. Share if you agree!”

Bryce Cuellar #conspiracy rawstory.com

A Las Vegas conspiracy theorist has been taken into custody and charged with making terrorist threats after posting a disturbing YouTube video threatening to slaughter “gays, faggots, lesbians and satanists,” reports KTNV.

Bryce Cuellar, 24, was arrested by Las Vegas police after they were notified by Interpol in July about Cuellar’s video. In the video, Cuellar stated that he is tired of the government trying to take away his First and Second Amendment rights and planned to go on a killing spree.

Calling himself a “Christian warrior,” Cuellar bragged that he would use his weapons as the Founding Fathers intended, killing,” gays, faggots, lesbians and satanists.”

According to Las Vegas police, Cuellar reportedly beat his wife hours after posting the video on YouTube, where he displayed his weapons while wearing a Kevlar vest and sporting night-vision goggles.

A review of Cuellar’s YouTube page reveal a collection of conspiracy-minded videos including ones that question what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary, support for the Bundy family’s war on the government, the threat of the Illuminati and proof that angels and demons are real. Investigators say the timeline of his videos suggest that he has sunk deeper in the world of conspiracy mongering over the past three years.

Following his arrest, Cuellar admitted to making the video but said that he was “angry and drunk” at the time, and has no intention of murdering anyone.

Despite that, Cuellar is being held on $100,000 bail and has been admitted for a psychological evaluation.

The Las Vegas man’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1.

Kathryn Nester #fundie rawstory.com

Polygamist leader Lyle Jeffs has escaped his home confinement — but his lawyer thinks there’s a possible supernatural explanation for it.

Salt Lake City news station Fox 13 reports that Jeffs’s defense attorney Kathryn Nester submitted a filing in court this week explaining that she is, at the moment, unable to contact her client. She then proceeded to explain that she had no idea what had become of him and speculated on some far-fetched scenarios to explain his disappearance.

“As this Court is well aware, Mr. Jeffs is currently not available to inform his counsel whether or not he agrees to the Continuance,” she wrote. “Whether his absence is based on absconding, as oft alleged by the Government in their filings, or whether he was taken and secreted against his will, or whether he experienced the miracle of rapture is unknown to counsel.”

Jeffs, who is the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS), has been charged for his role in a food stamp fraud and money laundering scheme. He escaped his pre-trial home confinement this past June and has not been heard from since.

Unnamed racist #racist rawstory.com

Authorities in Wichita, Kansas are searching for the person who allegedly anonymously harassed a biracial family living in their neighborhood, KSN-TV reported.

“These are kids under the age of 10 where me and their parents are trying to raise them, you have to love everybody, be friends with everybody,” said Nancy Wirths, whose family received a letter insulting her grandchildren. “It doesn’t matter if they’re brown, purple.”

Wirths said the unsigned letter arrived at her home on Monday, accusing her and her family of showing their neighborhood “a great disrespect” because of the children’s presence.

“We have noticed there are some black children at your residence,” the note read. “Maybe you are running a daycare or these are your children. In either case, we have put our house for sale. This neighborhood does not need any blacks in it.”

If caught, the person or persons responsible could face disorderly conduct charges. For her part, Wirths said she has not allowed the children to go outside since receiving the note.

“I hope this never happens to anyone else,” she said.

Eric Trump #racist rawstory.com

Eric Trump denied reports that his father planned to revise his immigration policy, which involves mass deportations and a border wall paid for by Mexico.

“My father’s speaking about immigration all week, so I won’t steal his thunder and his fire,” Eric Trump told “Fox and Friends” on Monday morning, as Donald Trump was hurling Twitter insults at MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“But you know, my father’s immigration plan is pretty simple,” the younger Trump said. “He wants secure borders. You have to know who’s coming into the United States of America. You can’t let people come in unchecked. We have 100 million people in this country that are out of the workforce. Right? I mean we have manufacturing jobs in this country have gone down one-third since 2000. We’re losing jobs across the board, yet people are walking in unchecked and we don’t know who they are. And they could be ISIS.”

Eric Trump said his father wanted to protect Americans and their jobs from foreigners.

“I mean, they should come first — you were born in this country, you were born here legally, you’re here legally,” Eric Trump said. “I mean, wages have been stagnant for the last 15 years and it’s because you have, you know, Syrian refugees coming in. It’s because you have, you know, thousands of people coming over the border.”

The median wage has remained relatively stagnant for decades, although some economists believe that metric is misleading, but Syrian refugees aren’t to blame.

The U.S. has admitted nearly 11,000 refugees from Syria since its civil war erupted five years ago.

“I mean, and Americans are suffering because of it, and that’s his point,” Eric Trump said. “So he’s speaking to Hispanic and Latino leaders and he’s having really amazing conversations. He’s also speaking to law enforcement, he’s speaking to border patrol. And you know he’s going formulate a really, really great plan that’s humane and ethical and that treats everybody well. But we have to solve the problem. It’s a real problem for this country.”

The younger Trump dismissed the notion that his father had changed his position on immigration.

“My father hasn’t flip-flopped on anything,” he said. “This was all the auspices of one article that came out that didn’t really — wasn’t grounded in any substance. But again, my father is giving a big speech on this on Thursday so he’ll be talking a lot about the specifics.”

Angela Kaaihue #fundie rawstory.com

The chair of the Republican party of Hawaii is urging fellow party members to disavow his own congressional candidate in the 2nd District after the GOP candidate attacked Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) for her religion and faith.

GOP candidate Angela Kaaihue issued a press release last week saying that Gabbard and former Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa “worship the devil,” and called the Democratic Party the “Devil Democratic State.” Her meme, that has since been deleted from her Facebook page, read in part, “Some Christians say, a vote for Tulsi Gabbard is a vote for Satan, the devil do you agree or disagree?”

“Then Hawaii, YOU can have YOUR so-called ‘perfect’ pathetic Hindu 1000 GODS leader along with YOUR pathetic ‘career politician’ Buddhist Hanabusa, and your pathetic American Traitor, And my family and I will go our merrily way,” Kaaihue said according to the Honolulu Civil Beat.

“I am talking about God, preaching about God, restoring his kingdom back into Hawaii,” she said in an interview Saturday. “This is God’s country, America is God’s country. I am trying to educate people about that.”

The Republican party chair was quick to attempt to dissociate his party from her attacks. “I want it understood by the general public and the media that the recent inflammatory comments made by candidate for Congress (CD2) Angela Kaaihue do not represent the views, values, or the sentiments of our Party and its members,” GOP chair Fritz Rohlfing said in a release. “Her vulgar, racially-bigoted, and religiously-intolerant descriptions of Democratic Party candidates are offensive, shameful, and unacceptable in public discourse.”

Kaaihue shot back that the party chair should be cautious because he’s attacking the “messenger of God.”

“The biggest liar and deceiver is Satan, the Devil. To call one a racist bigot, when they have taken over our America, GOD’s Country, and while most people do nothing, and allow it to happen, YOU are guilty for NOT standing up for GOD,” the word-salad on Facebook continued. “The biggest liar to call one a Racist Bigot! Take a stand for GOD, Christianity is the birth religion of America.”

She further alleged that the state’s GOP is identifying themselves as “taking the mark of the beast.”

The Texas-born woman further condemned a “local dumb mentality,” claiming if “my neighbor Gov. Ige and his Japanese constituents” would settle a legal dispute over some land that she would drop out of the race.

Dell Ivan Godkin #fundie rawstory.com

A volunteer youth pastor was sentenced to life in prison in Texas this week for sexually assaulting multiple teens at his church, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Dell Ivan Godkin, 48, was found guilty of sexually abusing one victim beginning when she was 13-years-old, and continuing until she was 17, by telling her God approved of what they were doing.

“He would say lots of things about God being OK with it,” explained prosecutor Monica Cooper, adding that Godkin would cite passages from the Bible to explain the roles of men and women to his victims.

In the case of the 13-year-old, he promised to stop molesting her by making a “deal” before she turned 17 on the condition she tell no one what had happened.

According to the prosecutor, members of the church were stunned by Godkin’s actions and described him as a good Christian.

“People were shocked when they heard that that’s how he controlled both of his victims (by quoting Scripture),” Cooper said. “He’s the scariest kind of child predator because he’s the kind that is sitting next to you in church, and he seems like the nicest guy.”

During the punishment phase of the trial, Godkin’s ex-wife took the stand and stated that he had beaten her repeatedly during their tumultuous 12-year-marriage and that she had informed the pastor of the church to no avail.

“One of the assaults occurred after she had gone to their pastor at church seeking help,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement. “By the time she arrived home, Godkin knew she had spoken to the pastor and beat her because of it.”

Although Godkin was given a life sentence, he will be eligible for parole in 2046 when he will turn 78.

Danny Healy-Rae #fundie rawstory.com

A politician in Ireland has come up with what might be the most creative climate change denial yet.

The Irish Independent.ie reports that Danny Healy-Rae, an independent Teachta Dála for the Kerry constituency, believes that the story of Noah’s Ark proves that climate change is a giant hoax.

Why, you ask? Because it proves that only God can control the weather, and it’s not up to us to decide what He wants to do with it.

“I believe that God above is in charge of the weather,” he said during a Dáil Éireann session earlier this year. “We here can’t do anything about it— There have been patterns of climate change over the years, indeed before there ever was a combustible engine.”

In an interview with Hot Press magazine, Healy-Rae elaborated on his views that Noah’s Ark shows that scientists have no idea what they’re talking about.

“I’m basing my views on facts,” he said. “The facts are there and history proves it. We had the Ice Age. We had Noah’s Ark. We had all those stories. We’ve proof of the Famine in 1740, which was caused by two years of incessant rain. There were some centuries when the country was very hot— and then there were different centuries with so much rain and cold. So, those are facts.”

Independent.ie notes that Healy-Rae also voted against Ireland’s same-sex marriage resolution last year because “going back, it was always a man and a woman produced a baby and brought them up” and “that’s the way I felt it should continue.”

Daniel B. Rowe #racist rawstory.com

A white supremacist in Olympia, Washington stabbed an interracial couple this week, and then told police that he planned to attack Black Lives Matter protesters at a nearby Trump rally.

Via Mic.com, The Olympian reports that a 32-year-old man named Daniel B. Rowe attacked a black man and a white woman as they were standing outside of a bar kissing one another.

Rowe ended up grazing the woman with his knife, while plunging his knife into the man. The man chased Rowe and then tripped him as he tried to run away. Rowe fell into a car and was knocked unconscious until law enforcement officials arrived on the scene.

Rowe subsequently told police that if they released him from custody, he planned attend a pro-Trump rally and attack Black Lives Matter protesters. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of malicious harassment, The Olympian notes.

Rowe — who has a “white power” tattoo and a Confederate flag tattoo — told police that he belonged to a white supremacist group and said that he swore a “blood oath” to fight with minorities in the streets.

His bail has been set at $500,000.

Convoy of Trump supporters #racist rawstory.com

A Massachusetts convoy of Trump supporters drove from Wrentham to Foxboro in their trucks, RVs and SUVs on July 31 and were caught on tape spewing racist epithets and calls for anti-black violence.

“Lynch the ni**ers by their d*cks!” said one driver, according to Winning Democrats, which highlighted a YouTube video of what the “Make America Great Again” convoy talked about on its CB channel when they thought no one was listening.

“Burn every single ni**er!” said another driver.

“All I know is we got plenty of trees to hang ni**ers from,” said another.

The convoy drove five miles from one township to another with their U.S. and Confederate flags waving.

“It would be nice to think that Trump supporters, once seeing and hearing how their comrades in idiocy truly behave, would have an epiphany of some sort and come to their senses,” wrote Charles Topher at Winning Democrats. “The problem is, they’re Trump supporters. They’re the ones driving those trucks.”

Jim Stachowiak #fundie rawstory.com

Former police officer and notoriously belligerent Trump supporter Jim Stachowiak has in the past fantasized about terrorists murdering his political enemies — but now he’s directly telling his fellow “patriots” that it’s time to take matters into their own hands.

Inquisitr notes that in a video reaction to the riots in Milwaukee posted this week, Stachowiak calls Black Lives Matter a “domestic terrorist organization” that’s “finding an excuse to loot stores owners, homes, and endangering the public at large.”

After ranting a bit against President Obama and Hillary Clinton, Stachowiak turned his attention back to the riots and said that anyone seen exiting a store during riots should be shot on sight on suspicion of “looting.”

“I don’t care if they’re women and children, anyone coming out of a store should be shot on site,” he said while holding up gun and pointing it at imaginary “looters.” “They should be shot exiting the store. If they make it down the street, take their asses out and shoot them in the back.”

To further emphasize his point, he took out a bullet with the initials “BLM” written on it to show that it is intended for Black Lives Matter activists.

“This is the solution to BLM,” he says.

James Allen Byrd #fundie rawstory.com

An Ohio trans woman was shot to death by her mother’s estranged boyfriend on Thursday in what the family is calling a hate crime.

Columbus’ Channel 10 News reported that Rae’Lynn Thomas, 28, was shot and killed by James Allen Byrd, her mother’s former partner who was still living with the family.

Renée Thomas said her daughter’s last words were, “Mom, please please don’t leave me. Mom, I’m dying. Mom, I love you. Tell my sisters and my brother I love them. Tell my family I love them. Mom, I’m dying, I’m dying, please don’t leave me.”

Rae’Lynn was shot twice by Byrd, then beaten. Byrd was reportedly viciously anti-trans, calling Rae’Lynn “Satan” and a “devil,” which was the word he said before he shot her.

Renée Thomas said she and her daughter were watching TV together when Byrd came around the corner and opened fire. After shooting her, he proceeded to savagely beat her with whatever he could lay his hands on.

“He picked up my heavy scale and wanted to beat [Rae’Lynn] with that. You shot my son. How much more?” said the grieving mother. She called the police, who came and arrested Byrd, but by then Rae’Lynn — who transitioned to living as a woman a decade ago — was gone.

Rae’Lynn’s aunt Shannon Thomas said of Byrd, “He took a light away from all of us that we can’t get back. And he needs to pay. He needs to pay.”

“I want to see him go to jail forever,” she said.

Columbus police are thus far declining to prosecute the murder as a hate crime. He’s being held on $2 million bond.

Jason Lewis #fundie rawstory.com

Republican voters in the Minnesota Second Congressional District just nominated former right-wing radio host Jason Lewis as their nominee, despite criticisms from his own party.

Lewis’s homophobic and racist rhetoric came back to haunt him when the Deputy Chair of the Minnesota Republican Party weighed in on the candidate’s attempt to score the nomination.

In 2009, Lewis complained that “real Americans” believe Hurricane Katrina victims were “a bunch of whiners.” Last year he claimed, “the median income for blacks in America would make them rich in most African nations, not most – all.” He went on to argue that the United States government lacks the authority to outlaw slavery.”

“In fact, if you really want to be quite frank about it, how does somebody else owning a slave affect me?” Lewis said in an audio commentary added to his book Power Divided is Power Checked: The Argument for States’ Rights. “It doesn’t. If I don’t think it is right, I won’t own one, and people always say, ‘Well, if you don’t want to marry somebody of the same sex, you don’t have to, but why tell somebody else they can’t?’ Uh, you know if you don’t want to own a slave, don’t. But don’t tell other people they can’t.”

The commentary was added after the Supreme Court declared laws barring couples from same-sex marriages were unconstitutional and not long after Lewis declared his candidacy for the House seat. Lewis has also come out against transgender people using their bathroom of choice, calling it “an abomination.”

As Lewis left his radio business, he told listeners he was “going Gault,” a reference to the Ayn Rand book Atlas Shrugged. In the novel, John Galt leads a revolt of elite business owners who turn their backs on civilization to build their own society and reject paying into the government system. “Going Gault” is a cry for someone to avoid paying taxes and avoid contributing to a capitalist system where one works for money and then buys things with the money.

Lewis is not only homophobic, not only has controversial views about African Americans and the country’s history with slavery, he attacked single women as “ignorant and “non-thinking.”

Fusion cites a November 2012 broadcast of Lewis’ show in which he says, “You’ve got a vast majority of young single women who couldn’t explain to you what GDP means. You know what they care about? They care about abortion. They care about abortion and gay marriage. They care about ‘The View.’ They are non-thinking.”

Despite the claim that he was “going Galt,” Lewis declared his intentions to run for Congress and has been begging for money for the last year. He’s spent their money on capitalist things like fundraisers on Capitol Hill, yard signs, print advertising in for corporate overlords, video production and $6,288 in payroll taxes to the federal government he once said he opposed, according to FEC reports.

While the Minnesota Republican Party spent a lot of time talking about how unelectable Lewis is and distancing themselves from him and his past statements, he’s now their candidate for Congress and they’ll have to work to elect him.

Rachel A. Jackson #fundie rawstory.com

A judge in Columbus, OH was told by a 71-year-old defendant that he should read the Bible before deciding on a sentence for her crime of vandalizing a Planned Parenthood clinic.

The Columbus Dispatch reported on the courtroom exchange, which took place on Monday when Common Pleas Judge Guy L. Reece was accepting a guilty plea from Rachel A. Jackson

“Do you go to church?” Jackson asked Reece.

“Ma’am –,” the judge began.

“You read Genesis 1:27-28,” Jackson said as her attorney led her from the room.

“I’ll see you on the 29th, ma’am,” said the judge, which is when Jackson is scheduled for sentencing.

On the morning of March 7, Jackson drove to the Planned Parenthood clinic on East Main Street, where surveillance cameras caught her spray-painting on the building, “SATAN DEN OF BABY KILLERS GOD SEE ALLLL (sic) MARK 9:42.”

She pleaded guilty in court and explained her actions by saying, “I believe what the Bible says about the little children.”

Reece responded by saying, “No one wants to belittle your religious beliefs, but the Bible also talks about render unto Caesar that which should be rendered unto Caesar, I believe.”

“That’s right,” Jackson replied.

“All right, so remember all the Bible, not just some of the Bible,” said the judge.

A court-ordered psychiatric evaluation found that Jackson suffers from “serious mental illness,” but also found that she is of sound enough mind to stand trial and to assist her attorney in her defense.

Jackson was not taken to jail, but on May 31, she was placed under house arrest after she returned to the Planned Parenthood surgical center and threatened to “damage or destroy” the facility.

Reece explained to Jackson that her behavior in the coming weeks would greatly impact her sentence. As her attorney led her from the courtroom, she said, “And I’m not crazy.”

The Bible verse Jackson recommended to Reece states, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’”

Rocky Suhayda #racist rawstory.com

The leader of the American Nazi Party said on his radio show that a Trump presidency would be a great victory and a “real opportunity” for white nationalists to expand and build their coalition in the United States.

BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski posted audio on Saturday night of American Nazi Party Chairman Rocky Suhayda declaring that a win for Trump is a win for racist whites.

“I believe that Trump is going to win the election this November, for various reasons which I don’t want to go into again,” Suhayda said in July. “I think it’s gonna surprise the enemy, because I think that they feel that the white working class — especially the male portion of the working class — and with him his female counterparts have basically thrown in the towel. Given up hope of any politician again standing up for their interests.”

“Now, if Trump does win, okay, it’s going to be a real opportunity for people like white nationalists, acting intelligently to build upon that, and to go and start — you know how you have the black political caucus and what not in Congress, and, everything, to start building on something like that,” he continued.

“It doesn’t have to be anti-, like the movement’s been for decades, so much as it has to be pro-white. It’s kinda hard to go and call us bigots, if we don’t go around and act like a bigot. That’s what the movement should contemplate. Alright,” he concluded.

Kaczynski noted that in the past, Suhayda has avoided publicly endorsing Trump because he didn’t want to compromise the Republican nominees chances in the polls.

In 2015, the Nazi chairman wrote on his website, “We have a wonderful OPPORTUNITY here folks, that may never come again, at the RIGHT time. Donald Trump’s campaign statements, if nothing else, have SHOWN that ‘our views’ are NOT so ‘unpopular’ as the Political Correctness crowd have told everyone they are!”

He went on, “But, and here’s the kicker — so WHAT do we DO — sit back and heartily congratulate ourselves that our viewpoints are NOT the pariahs that we have been told that they are, and get all warm and fuzzy feeling OR, do we FINALLY get SERIOUS about what we are supposed to be engaged in.”

Donald Trump #racist rawstory.com

Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump launched new attacks on immigrants Thursday, telling supporters that Somalis and other refugees from “terrorist nations” should be barred entry to the United States.

“We are letting people come in from terrorist nations that shouldn’t be allowed because you can’t vet them,” Trump, who has built his campaign around an anti-immigration platform, said at a rally in Portland, Maine.

“You have no idea who they are. This could be the great Trojan horse of all time,” he said, reprising a warning that terrorists including members of the Islamic State extremist group will sneak into the United States as refugees.

“This is a practice that has to stop.”

He pointed to the Somali immigrant population as an example of the “thousands” of refugees who have flooded into Maine and other US states and caused problems.

Trump said efforts to resettle Somali refugees — many of them in Minnesota — were “having the unintended consequence of creating an enclave of immigrants with high unemployment that is both stressing the state’s— safety net and creating a rich pool of potential recruiting targets for Islamist terror groups.”

He then listed several immigrants, mostly from Muslim majority countries — Afghanistan, Iraq, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Somalia, Syria, Uzbekistan and Yemen — who were arrested for conducting or threatening to carry out violent attacks, teaching bomb-making to recruits, and otherwise supporting terror groups.

“We’re dealing with animals,” he seethed.

Trump caused an uproar last December when he called for a temporary ban on all Muslims entering the United States, and he has harangued his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for seeking to allow many times more refugees into the country than President Barack Obama has.

“Hillary Clinton wants to have them come in by the hundreds of thousands,” Trump warned Thursday, to a chorus of boos.

“You’re going to have problems like you’ve never seen.”

Steven Edwards #fundie rawstory.com

Last month, a Detroit man named Steven Edwards posted a shocking video on Twitter that showed him pulling a gun on and threatening to shoot a man whom he believed to be gay.

This week, Edwards showed up in court in a wheelchair after he accidentally shot himself while fighting with another person.

Fox 2 Detroit reports that the prosecutor in Edwards’ case say that he shot himself while arguing with another individual. Apparently, Edwards pulled a gun on this person and tried to shoot them, but he wound up shooting himself instead.

The prosecutor argued that this self-inflicted wound showed why Edwards should not have his $250,000 bond lowered because he would still have access to his gun if he gets released. Despite this, the judge in the case agreed to lower Edwards’s bond to $100,000.

Last month, Edwards posted a video in which he showed himself pulling out a gun at a man who was exiting a convenience store while calling him “gay as hell” and a “d*ck-in-the-booty-ass n***s.” The man being threatened quickly ran away after seeing Edwards draw a gun on him.

Hancock County Board of Elections and Registration #racist rawstory.com

Jim Crow laws have been off the books for years, but that hasn’t stopped individual states and cities from coming up with new ways to depress minority voter turnout.

Last week, for instance, a U.S. appeals court struck down a North Carolina voter ID law that it said was specifically designed to lower turnout among black voters. And now the New York Times is reporting that a town in Georgia is using its police department to challenge the rights of its black residents to vote.

Specifically, the Times reports that the Hancock County Board of Elections and Registration has been “systematically questioning the registrations of more than 180” black residents in Sparta, Georgia “by dispatching deputies with summonses commanding them to appear in person to prove their residence or lose their voting rights.”

The 180 black residents make up roughly one fifth of Sparta’s total registered voters, the Times notes.

A new lawsuit is alleging that the Hancock County Board of Elections enacted this policy to help white candidates win more elections in Sparta, although county attorney Barry Fleming told the Times that the board’s policies have nothing to do with race.

“The allegations that people were denied the right to vote are the opposite of the truth,” said Fleming, who claimed these policies were meant to restore order to the voting process after a period of supposed corruption. “This is probably more about politics and power than race.”

Even if only a small portion of people who were targeted in the probe were purged from the voter rolls, the mere fact that police officers were coming to residents’ homes to challenge their voting rights could still suppress turnout.

“A lot of those people that was challenged probably didn’t vote, even though they weren’t proven to be wrong,” Marion Warren, a Sparta elections official, told the Times. “People just do not understand why a sheriff is coming to their house to bring them a subpoena, especially if they haven’t committed any crime.”

‘I’m ashamed to have known you’: Conservatives rip Ann Coulter for ugly smear of hero soldier’s dad

Conservative writer and professional provocateur Ann Coulter may have finally gone too far Thursday night after mocking the Muslim father of a U.S. Army captain who died while saving ten of his fellow soldiers in Iraq in 2004.

Speaking at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, the father of Army Capt. Humayun S.M. Khan delivered a powerful and impassioned speech attacking GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump for questioning the patriotism of American Muslims.

After relating the tale of his son’s heroism in sacrificing his life by stopping a suicide bomber, Khizr Khan launched a devastating attack on Trump.

“Hillary Clinton was right when she called my son the best of America. If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have been in America,” he said. “Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims. He disrespects other minorities, women, judges, and even his own party leadership. Donald Trump loves to build walls and ban us from this country.”

Addressing Trump directly he said, “Let me ask you, have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy,” before adding, “You have sacrificed nothing!”

Khan’s attack on the GOP nominee triggered unabashed Trump supporter Ann Coulter, who tweeted: “You know what this convention really needed? An angry Muslim with a thick accent like Fareed Zacaria.”

Coulter’s reference was misspelled and in reference to CNN host Fareed Zakaria.

Her ugly smear set off conservatives, including longtime friend and editor John Podhoretz who admitted, “I’m ashamed ever to have known you.”

Henry L. Love #fundie rawstory.com

A 51-year-old Florida man was arrested and charged with child abuse for allegedly attacking an 11-year-old boy because he said God wanted him to.

According to WFTV-TV, Henry L. Love told investigators that “he was awoken from his sleep by God” and told to baptize the boy, who was staying with him.

The suspect then allegedly ordered the boy to strip down to his underwear before dragging him to a swimming pool belonging to his neighbor, which was described by investigators as “filthy with algae and bugs.”

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported that Love then dunked the boy’s head in the pool several times against his will, while telling him that he was being baptized.

Love allegedly repeated his allegation to the pool owner, who said they saw the suspect walking with the boy after the incident and described the boy as “soaking wet.”

The boy’s mother, who had left the boy in Love’s care earlier that day, took him to a hospital that night to treat eye and ear infections.

Following his arrest, Love was booked into Volusia County jail, where he was held without bail.

Newt Gingrich #fundie rawstory.com

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called for every American Muslim on Thursday to be “tested” in the wake of the fatal attack in Nice, France.

“Western civilization is in a war,” Gingrich told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “We should, frankly, test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported. Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia? Glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door. But we need to be fairly relentless about defining who our enemies are.”

Gingrich, who is reportedly being considered as a running mate for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, did not offer any specifics as to the nature of the “test.” The interview aired a day after CNN reported that Hannity provided the private jet Gingrich used to meet with Trump in Indianapolis.

Officials in France have not identified the parties responsible for the Bastille Day attack, which killed 80 people and caused critical injuries to 20 others.

But Gingrich directed his remarks toward the Islamic State terrorist group, blaming the Nice assault on President Barack Obama and “Western elites who lack the guts to do what is right.”

“I am sick and tired of being told that the wealthiest, most powerful civilization in history — all of Western civilization — is helpless in the face of a group of medieval barbarians,” he told Hannity.

Josh Duggar #fundie rawstory.com

Josh Duggar may — or maybe not, depending on the source — be returning to his family’s TLC reality show.

The prolific evangelical family is hurting for money, despite their occasional and flagrant abuse of free-food giveaways at fast-food joints, so they’re at least considering cashing in their eldest son’s molestation and adultery scandals for TV ratings.

“Josh will appear on the next season of his sisters’ series,” a source told InTouch. “The plan is for him to address everything he’s done. What he has to say will be ratings gold, and TLC — and the Duggars — know it.”

The 28-year-old Duggar resigned from his job with the anti-LGBT Family Research Council last year after admitting to molesting four of his sisters and another girl while they were sleeping about a decade earlier.

He then entered a Christian rehabilitation center for months after admitting to extramarital affairs when the Ashley Madison hack revealed his accounts on the adultery website.

The source said Duggar would address those scandals, but he would not apologize.

“Josh will cover everything and he will maintain the family line that God has saved his soul and guided him back to the right path,” the source said. “But one thing you probably won’t hear is that he’s actually sorry, as he believes that external forces were to blame for his behavior.”

However, another report strongly disputed rumors that Duggar would appear on his sisters’ spinoff TLC program, “Jill & Jessa: Counting On.”

Their parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, have reportedly been torn apart by their eldest son’s sex abuse, pornography addiction and infidelities.

The couple apparently disagreed on how to punish their adult son for his embarrassing mistakes, which led to the cancellation of their own popular TLC reality TV show, “19 and Counting.”

Hollis Alexander #fundie rawstory.com

A Kentucky county judge refused to officiate a couple’s wedding after they requested he respect their lack of religious beliefs, the Friendly Atheist reported.

Trigg County Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander confirmed that he turned away Mandy Heath and her fiancee when Heath went to file the necessary paperwork at the local courthouse on the day before their wedding.

“I will be unable to perform your wedding ceremony,” said Alexander, who also refuses to perform ceremonies for same-sex couples. “I include God in my ceremonies and I won’t do one without.”

However, Alexander’s objections have already been met with criticism from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which has already contacted him.

“You have no right to impose your personal religious beliefs on people seeking to be married. Governments in this nation, including the Commonwealth of Kentucky, are secular,” the group’s letter read. “They do not have the power to impose religion on citizens. The bottom line is that by law, there must be a secular option for people seeking to get married. In Trigg County, you are that secular option.”

Larry Klayman #conspiracy rawstory.com

Tea Party legal activist Larry Klayman tried to link President Barack Obama to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in a lawsuit blaming both of them, among others, for the fatal shooting ambush in Dallas last week.

Right Wing Watch reported that Klayman, a former prosecutor who has previously blamed Obama when he was trounced in a CNN interview, said in the suit that the president was “endangering not just [his] life, as a white law enforcement person of Jewish origin, but also for all Americans, white, black, yellow or brown, no matter what their race or religion.”

The lawsuit, filed in Dallas, also says that Obama is “soul brothers” with both Farrakhan and former MSNBC host Al Sharpton.

“When the leader of the United States and supposedly the Western world, who was born to a Muslim father, schooled in Muslim schools, and has close ties to black-Muslim leaders like Farrakhan seeks to incite violence by virtue of his running interference for Muslims and blacks who are not even representative of African-Americans generally, it’s no wonder Obama-inspired massacres like Dallas happen,” it states.

Klayman, who is currently representing Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in court over Arpaio’s policies targeting Latinos, argued in his suit that the “race war” Obama has been fomenting is also to blame for the fatal police shootings last week of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, which spurred the demonstration in Dallas that was marred by the attack that left five officers dead.

“It is no wonder some cops, fearing for their lives in this anti-white, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian environment, sometimes are prone to literally pull the trigger too quickly,” he wrote.

Carl Swensson, Paul Nally and others #fundie rawstory.com

County officials in Georgia laughed along with residents after a group of anti-government demonstrators tried to arrest them for doing their jobs.

The group, led by “sovereign citizen” and “birther” conspiracy theorist Carl Swensson, attempted to perform a citizen’s arrest of four Clayton County elected officials during Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting, reported the Clayton News-Daily.

Swensson, who has filed lawsuits challenging Barack Obama’s ballot eligibility, walked into the regularly scheduled meeting and ordered police officers take the four officials into custody for violating their oaths.

“I’m here to invoke my absolute and guaranteed rights to also effect a citizen’s arrest,” Swensson said. “It is also incumbent on the peace officers to now take them into custody. This meeting should officially be over because you guys have been in violation on the fact you still hold state money.”

Police officers at the meeting did not arrest the officials, or the demonstrators — who announced themselves during the public comments portion of the meeting..

“Rather than a speech, this will be a demonstration,” said demonstrator Paul Nally, of Barstow County. “This is what happens when public officials ignore the rights, privileges and immunities of citizens.”

Swensson — wearing his trademark bald eagle-American flag tie — argued that county commissioners Michael Edmondson, Gail Hambrick and Shana Rooks had violated their oaths of office by accepting state money, and he also ordered the arrest of District Attorney Tracy Graham-Lawson.

“I command peace officers here, right now, and take possession,” Swensson said. “If you do not, then you are in violation of your oath and violation of all that is sacred to everybody here in this county. Please do not hesitate, please do your job, please take custody right now. We need resolution. We’re not getting it at the national level and we only have the local level to deal with.”

Swensson, of Henry County, has founded citizens’ grand juries and other extralegal groups to pester elected officials with lawsuits and criminal complaints based on his belief that local, state and federal governments are illegitimate.

The anti-government demonstrators eventually left the commission chambers and were told by police that they would be arrested if they tried to come back and charged with assault if they attempted to make the arrests themselves.

Swensson, who use the sovereign citizen name “carl -alfred: Swensson” for court filings, was told by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office not to return to the courthouse unless he had official business.

He also must notify the sheriff of his visits two days in advance and go through security checkpoints required of all visitors.

The county commissioners got back to their meeting after Swensson, Nally and the other activists left, but not without joking about the demonstration.

Edmondson, one of the commissioners, joked about the anti-government demonstrators during a discussion of proposed pay raises for several employees of the district attorney’s office.

“Is this still necessary now that she’s been arrested?” Edmondson said. “Can I make that motion since I was also arrested?”

The chamber erupted in laughter at his joke, the newspaper reported.

Greg McMillan #fundie rawstory.com

A judge in Knox County, Tennessee ruled that a woman may not be granted parental rights as part of her same-sex divorce because her child was conceived through artificial insemination, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

Fourth Circuit Court Judge Greg McMillan ruled that because Erica Witt “has no biological relationship with this child, [she] has no contractual relationship with this child.” However, he did allow her to both appeal and to seek visitation rights.

Witt and her now ex-wife, Sabrina Witt, were married in Washington D.C. in April 2014. But because Tennessee did not recognize their marriage as legal at the time. Erica Witt’s name was left off of the birth certificate when the child was born in Knoxville in January 2015.

Because of that, Sabrina Witt’s lawyer argued that Erica was ineligible for parental rights because the state law covering children conceived through artificial insemination only applies to husbands. Despite the Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriages nationwide, McMillan said on Friday that he could not enact “social policy” by updating the state law to account for that.

“I believe as a trial court I am not to plow new ground, but to apply precedent and the law,” he said. “Given the novelty of this issue, the court thinks it appropriate to see if the appellate courts want to address this.”

McMillan billed himself as an advocate for children in families in 2014 during his campaign to sit on the Fourth Circuit Court bench.

“I am running because the Fourth Circuit Court is not working for the families and children of Knox County,” he told the News Sentinel at the time. “There needed to be a change. I believe that the system can be changed to where it runs more efficiently and fairly.”

That same year, he ruled that a local man could have his child baptized as a Lutheran in the midst of a divorce proceeding without the approval of the mother, even though she had full custody of the child.

Bob Gannon #fundie rawstory.com

The NRA might think arming drunken bar and nightclub patrons is a bad idea, but not everyone agrees.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Wisconsin State Rep. Bob Gannon (R-Slinger) has proposed a new bill called the “Disarmed Citizen Compensation Act” that seeks to actively punish businesses that don’t allow guns on their premises.

Specifically, the bill would force businesses that ban guns to pay triple damages to compensate anyone who is harmed by any gun violence that occurs on their properties.

“This bill will give the citizens of Wisconsin a better chance of defending themselves and their loved ones against this scourge of terrorist activity,” Gannon said in a press release.

But even if no shootings actually occur at businesses that ban guns, they will still be punished by the bill indirectly since their insurers will likely raise their rates in response to it.

Steve Baas, senior vice president for governmental affairs with Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, told the Journal-Sentinel that he and his organization were not enthusiastic about Gannon’s proposal.

Specifically, he said that his members are generally “for tort reform and liability limits” and not liability increases.

Gannon, for what it’s worth, stepped into controversy earlier this year when he said Milwaukee’s black residents were an “anchor holding back the ship of state as far as jobs is concerned.” He also flipped off a Democratic State Rep. who called him out for his comments.

Rick Tyler #racist rawstory.com

Rick Tyler, an independent Congressional candidate for Tennessee’s 3rd district, is facing a boycott of his restaurant business after he advertised his candidacy with racist billboard messages like “Make America White Again.”

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Tennessee resident Amy Hines Woody expressed her outrage by posting a photo of the “Make America White Again” sign, WTVC reported.

“This disgusting bunch of bigotry was erected about 20 minutes from our house,” she wrote, noting that Tyler owned Whitewater Grill in Ocoee. “Please, if you are the decent and loving people I know you to be, boycott this business.”

A Web address on the billboard redirects to Tyler’s campaign website, which explains that the candidate chose a sign that “is difficult to ignore and its message comes across as authoritative and influential.”

Tyler also suggests that his billboard is based on Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

“Of great significance, as well, is the reality of the Trump phenomenon and the manner in which he has loosened up the overall spectrum of political discourse,” he noted. “The Make America White Again billboard advertisement will cut to the very core and marrow of what plagues us as a nation.”

A second sign used words from Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech along with an illustration of the Confederate flag surrounding the White House.

Tyler said that he planned to put up other billboards, including “Fight federal tyranny / Stop the Muslim invasion” and “Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be miscegenators.”

The candidate told WRCB-TV that he did not hate people of color, but wanted to return to a “1960s, Ozzie and Harriet, Leave it to Beaver time when there were no break-ins; no violent crime; no mass immigration.”

But after the Kiwanis of Ocoee and others joined the boycott of Tyler’s restaurant, the “Make American White Again” billboard mysteriously disappeared.

“THE SIGN IS OFFICIALLY DOWN!!!” Amy Hines Woody reported in a Facebook update. “Never should have been there in the first place, but at least it’s gone.”

It was not immediately clear if Tyler had completely abandoned his “billboard strategy.”

Luke Michael Roberts #fundie rawstory.com

A Kentucky man burst into a mosque during worship services and began shouting about Jesus.

Luke Michael Roberts, of Elsmere, was charged with theft, impersonating an officer, criminal trespassing and disturbing a lawful meeting after police said he entered the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati and disrupted prayer services, reported WCPO-TV.

Police said Monday the 37-year-old Roberts entered the mosque in West Chester Township, Ohio, about 11:25 p.m. June 14 — two days after a deadly shooting in Orlando — and shouted “Jesus is lord” while Muslims prayed.

One of the worshipers confronted Roberts, who said he was a police officer and didn’t have to leave.

When another worshiper tried to call police, Roberts tried to take away the man’s phone.

Roberts was arrested and released on bond, and he is scheduled to appear Tuesday in court for a hearing on the misdemeanor charges.

A spokesman for the mosque said security had been increased for nightly prayer services during Ramadan, which last through July 5 — particularly after the deadly Pulse nightclub shooting by a Muslim gunman claiming ties to Islamic militant groups.

“We are going to take it up one notch,” said Ashraf Traboulsi, the mosque’s vice chair, last week after contacting regional law enforcement.

Pastor Donnie Romero #fundie rawstory.com

In the wake of the attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida last week, many right-wing Christian religious leaders have celebrated the shooter’s actions, but a Texas pastor is taking that to a whole new level.

Pastor Donnie Romero of Stedfast Baptist Church in Fort Worth told his flock he agrees “100 percent” with Baptist Pastor Roger Jimenez, who made news with his sermon advocating that the government should use a firing squad to “blow their brains out.”

“These 50 sodomites are all perverts and pedophiles, and they are the scum of the earth, and the earth is a little bit better place now,” Romero said in the Sunday sermon. “And I’ll take it a step further, because I heard on the news today, that there are still several dozen of these queers in ICU and intensive care. And I will pray to God like I did this morning, I will do it tonight, I’ll pray that God will finish the job that that man started, and he will end their life, and by tomorrow morning they will all be burning in hell, just like the rest of them, so that they don’t get any more opportunity to go out and hurt little children.”

Romero went on to cite Sodom and Gomorrah, which he called the first ever “queer mass murder” and called out mega churches, whom he believes are too soft on preaching anti-gay sermons. Biblical scholars believe the “sin” in the story had nothing to do with homosexuality, rather it was about inhospitality.

In a twist, Romero was ordained by Pastor Steve Anderson, who also made the list of anti-LGBT religious leaders standing with the actions of the shooter.

Gianpaolo Cerretani #racist rawstory.com

A Massachusetts man attacked a group of teenagers with a hammer after they took back a football he’d swiped from a child.

Witnesses said 24-year-old Gianpaolo Cerretani took the football from a child playing Sunday afternoon at Revere Beach, and a group of black and Hispanic teens confronted him, reported WBZ-TV.

The teens grabbed the football and gave it back to the child — and that’s when Cerretani went berserk.

Witnesses said Cerretani became enraged and started swinging a hammer at the teens while shouting racial slurs at them.

An 18-year-old from Lowell suffered minor injuries in the hammer attack, but he refused medical treatment.

The group of boys and young men managed to subdue Cerratani until state troopers arrived to arrest him.

State police said Cerretani turned his racist anger against them as troopers took him into custody.

He screamed racial slurs at troopers and called them pigs, and threatened to fight them.

Cerretani was taken to an area hospital for treatment of several cuts on his head, and he hurled another racial slur against a black security guard there.

He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, a civil rights violation, threats to commit a crime, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

An official in Hillsborough County, Florida is upset that the local county commission chose to fly the LGBT rainbow Pride flag outside a public facility, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Commissioner Stacy White, a Tea Party Republican, called for a meeting to consider removing the flag, which was raised outside the Hillsborough County Center on Wednesday in the aftermath of the mass shooting attack in Orlando.

White was not present when the commission voted 5-1 to raise the flag through the end of the month, which sees LGBT Pride celebrations around the country. But he sent an email to Peggy Rowe, the county’s human resources director, saying that it was a “divisive, politically-charged symbol” and that it could create a liability issue for the county.

“My office recently received an anonymous phone call from a county employee stating that, because of her strong Christian beliefs, it will be nearly unbearable for her pass the ‘pride’ flag each morning as she enters the workplace,” White wrote. “She clearly indicated that the display of that flag, for her, has created a hostile work environment.”

County Administrator Mike Merrill responded in a memo on Thursday saying that he was unaware of objections from any county employee prior to the vote for raising the flag.

“I believe that I had no reasonable basis to believe that the Board’s action would create a hostile or uncomfortable work environment,” he said.

White has a history of antipathy toward LGBT issues. Watermark Online reported in 2013 that he was the only commission member who refused to sign a petition declaring March 28 Tampa Pride Day. He said he did so “from a place of respect.”

Sarah Palin #fundie rawstory.com

Former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin has never been shy about her unfavorable opinions regarding President Barack Obama.

Her Friday criticism may strike some as odd, however. In a Facebook rant, Palin called the Harvard Law-educated president a “special kind of stupid” in all-capital letters. Palin was apparently upset about Obama’s efforts to enact gun regulations in the wake of the most deadly mass shooting in recent U.S. history.

“OBAMA IS A SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID,” she exploded. “Enough is enough, Mr. President. There’s no ‘due respect’ due you after pulling this stunt.”

Obama’s “stunt” was, in her mind, a call to ban high-capacity assault rifles like the one used by Florida shooter Omar Mateen. While visiting Orlando in the wake of the Pulse nightclub shooting this week, Obama spoke of the families of the victims, according to an Independent Journal article Palin linked to.

“Those who defend the easy accessibility of assault weapons, should meet these families and explain why that makes sense,” Obama said. “Why is it they think our liberty requires these repeated tragedies? That’s not the meaning of liberty.”

Palin continued her rant, which veered into an anti-Muslim tirade.

“Exploiting a sick, evil, ideological-driven attack on Americans to further your twisted anti-Second Amendment mission is disgusting,” she wrote. “Today you’re demanding an ‘explanation’ from law abiding gun owners, but not demanding the same from followers of Islam, the religion behind this terror? If the demented Orlando terrorist doesn’t represent all Islamic followers, then why do you insinuate he represents all gun owners?”

In the article Palin linked to, it’s clear the president is talking to lawmakers and lobbyists and makes no comparison between the Orlando shooter and “law-abiding gun owners.” He calls for accountability from legislators who blocked background checks after the massacre of school children at Sandy Hook.

“And why, after any shooting, do you always want to take away firearms from the innocent people who didn’t do it?” Palin rants. “Forget your asinine gun control, do your job and engage in Islamic terrorist control. Yes, it’s a special kind of stupid to demand we explain ourselves. But if you really want them, get ready for our explanations. Here’s mine.”

She then links to the Journal article, which makes no mention of Obama wanting to take guns away from “innocent” gun owners, but instead discusses his visit to Orlando where he talked about the need to enact legislation that will stop mass shootings.

Kenneth Lewis #racist rawstory.com

Florida Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis was suspended on Friday after insulting the city of Orlando on his Facebook page, WESH-TV reported.

Lewis first posted the disparaging remarks on Sunday, hours after the mass shooting attack at the Pulse nightclub that left 49 people dead and 53 others injured.

“The entire city should be leveled. It is void of a single redeeming quality. It is a melting pot of 3rd world miscreants and ghetto thugs,” he wrote. “It is void of culture. If you live down there you do it at your own risk and at your own peril. If you go down there after dark there is seriously something wrong with you.”

Officials with the state attorney’s office said that Lewis’ post violated its policy regarding social media, and could be grounds for termination.

Lewis also attracted criticism in 2014, when he sent a Facebook message stating the following:

"Happy Mother’s Day to all the crack hoes out there. It’ never too late to turn it around, tie your tubes, clean up your life and make difference to someone out there that deserves a better mother."

He later called it “an inspirational message.” He was subsequently forced to undergo sensitivity training and was temporarily reassigned.

In another post, Lewis suggested that Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor would be working for McDonald’s had she not benefited from affirmative action policies.

“Reason enough why no country should ever engage in the practice of Affirmative Action again,” he wrote. “Where would she be if she didn’t hit the quota lottery? Here’s a hint: ‘Would you like to supersize that sir?'”

Unnamed marines #fundie rawstory.com

Two active-duty marines are under investigation for social media posts where they seem to be making violent threats against gay bars, Marine Corps Times reports.

The investigation started after a photo was posted on a closed Facebook group for male marines that showed a marine corporal in uniform pointing a rifle at the camera with the caption, “Coming to a gay bar near you.”

The California-based I Marine Expeditionary Force is investigating both the corporal in the photo and the Marine who posted it on Facebook, Marine Corps Times says.

First Lt. Thomas Gray, a spokesman for I MEF, tells Marine Corps Times that the investigation is being taken “very seriously,” although he declined to go into further details about it.

It’s not clear at this point whether the marines being investigated were making a serious threat or were just making a spectacularly tasteless “joke” in the wake of the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. At any rate, it’s good that the military caught word of the photo and is looking into it.

Erick Shute #fundie rawstory.com

Police arrested a government-hating West Virginia man who admitted to killing three neighbors as part of an ongoing dispute.

Morgan County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting report Monday afternoon near a timber farm in Great Cacapon, where they found three men shot to death, reported MetroNews.

Investigators identified 32-year-old Erick Shute, who describes himself as a “sovereign citizen,” as the suspected gunman and arrested him in Chester County, Pennsylvania, shortly after midnight Tuesday, after an eight-hour manhunt.

Sovereign citizens are a loosely organized movement of tax protesters and anti-government activists who believe most government agencies act illegally and have been identified as by law enforcement as the top domestic terrorist threat.

Shute admitted to shooting the men — who he said were drug addicts — in a Facebook post made after the slayings.

“This was self defense,” Shute posted. “I talked to a cop and he even agreed this was an open and shut case of self defense and they probably won’t even pursue charges. I am just waiting to talk to the prosecutor. I have nothing to hide. Media can contact me on my cell. I am open to talk. These guys stole over $20,000 pf oir (sic) stuff and sold it for drugs and threatened me to my face before. They even unacrewed (sic) my brakeline while I was asleep. Everyone not on drugs on the mountain hates them. These are known thieves and drug addicts.”

Authorities did not comment on whether any of Shute’s claims were accurate.

But Sheriff Vince Shambaugh said Shute had filed a number of claims against the men as part of a property dispute.

The sheriff said all three victims were ambushed and fatally shot with an AR-15 rifle while clearing wood and debris from a road near Shute’s property.

“He took cover behind a tree and shot these people ambush-style,” Shambaugh said.

A fourth person was able to flee the shooting and was not injured, investigators said.

Shute’s Facebook page shows an interest in conspiracy theories promoted by websites such as Alex Jones’ Infowars, the Russian-funded RT and “The Truther Girls,” and he also enjoyed the “Doomsday Preppers” reality show.

The sheriff said Shute was a “doomsday prepper” himself who was stockpiling weapons, ammunition and other supplies ahead of the “end of times,” and Shambaugh said the suspect was trying to recruit others to join him.

Shute, who frequently posts sensationalized articles about police misconduct on his social media account, told investigators and others that he set up Claymore mines and other booby-traps in bunkers on his property.

A New Jersey grand jury indicted Shute in 2011 on charges of attacking a police officer and resisting arrest.

He also made news in 2009 when he hung an American flag upside-down as a “signal of distress” in Salem County, New Jersey.

Shute told reporters he was upset with taxes, the Federal Reserve and President Barack Obama’s health care law.

He agreed to take down the flag after talking to some local veterans, saying he respected military service.

However, Shute said in a Facebook post last year that he could only support military service members if they burned down the White House.

Steve King #fundie rawstory.com

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) asserted on Wednesday that the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando could have been prevented if people were not being “suppressed” by political correctness.

During an interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, King argued that Donald Trump had “laid out some good policies” to address mass shootings.

“One of them is his immigration policy,” he explained. “Let’s suspend immigration from terrorist-sponsoring countries at least until we get a handle on this. I think that’s a prudent statement. And yet, the crossfire is coming back as anti-gun.”

“We want to have a prudent immigration policy, and the Democrats want to take away our guns!” King continued. “The very thing we need to defend ourselves from people like that shooter in Orlando.”

King also said that he did not agree with people who said that the FBI, which investigated the shooter for ties to terrorism, should have been able to prevent his gun purchases.

“They did an investigation, they interviewed him two or three times, [then] they decided to close the investigation, they didn’t have enough to move forward,” King explained. “And so at that point, where would you then draw the line? Would you say that 15 years from now if that individual had been interviewed by the FBI, he couldn’t buy a gun without setting off alarm bells?”

“The FBI did not have the authority to even talk to him [before he bought a gun],” Cuomo noted. “And now, this. You don’t see that as a reasonable abridgment of Second Amendment rights in furtherance of investigative power for the FBI — even after Orlando?”

King said that he was “willing to have the discussion.”

“But I’m not willing to take the guns out of the hands of everybody who fits that category,” the congressman insisted. “Because we’re denying them their right to defend themselves too.”

Instead, King recommended focusing on the shooter’s wife and neighbors: “What about the people who should have been watching this? They’re intimidated by political correctness.”

“There are multiple interviews of people that saw him in the club, there were people at him employment that spoke up, and they were more or less suppressed because they said their criticism had to stop because they thought it was criticism because he was a Muslim,” King opined. “That’s what the FBI’s conclusion was, that there really wasn’t an unstable individual here, that it was anti-Muslim prejudice that was causing him his trouble at work.”

According to King, “Donald Trump has got this right— if we are suppressed with political correctness to the point where we don’t see something and say something out of fear [of] being criticized as some kind of bigot then America is not as safe as if we had freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.”

Donald Trump #conspiracy rawstory.com

Who could have predicted that presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump would use the terror attack in Orlando to make incendiary, fact-free statements?

Well, just about everyone did. But Trump still sank to a new on Monday morning by implying Obama may secretly be in favor of terrorist attacks on American citizens.

“He doesn’t get it or he gets it better than anybody understands. It’s one or the other,” Trump said of Obama’s approach to terrorism on Fox & Friends Monday. “And either one is unacceptable.”

Trump went on to imply that Obama has “got something else in mind” when it comes to stopping terrorist attacks, as evidenced by the fact that he won’t say the words “radical Islamic terrorism,” which would apparently be a more effective way to stop terrorists than preventing them from getting guns.

“We’re led by a man who is a very — look, we’re led by a man that either is, is not tough, not smart, or he’s got something else in mind,” Trump said. “And the something else in mind, you know, people can’t believe it. People cannot — they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the ways he acts and can’t even mention the words radical Islamic terrorism. There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable.”

How long until Trump implies that Obama is a foreign agent who falsified his birth certificate? At this rate, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him say it during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

Tucker Carlson, Sebastian Gorka and Newt Gingrich #fundie rawstory.com

Fox News host Tucker Carlson suggested on Sunday that President Barack Obama shared the blame for killings at a gay nightclub in Orlando because his administration had downplayed Islamic terrorism.

While investigators were still recovering 20 or more dead bodies from Pulse Nightclub, Carson spoke to counterterrorism expert Sebastian Gorka.

“All Americans have a role to play,” Gorka warned. “You must be aware you are on the front lines. Be alert and report anything that you see that is suspicious.”

Citing a recent shooting in San Bernardino, Carlson argued that President Obama’s administration had made America less safe by taking a politically correct view of Islamic-inspired terrorism.

“Doesn’t the politicization of all of this, the relentless lying by the administration about the Islamic terror threat we face make it harder for people to want to step forward and say what they see?” the Fox News host opined.

“Absolutely, it’s horrific,” Gorka agreed, recalling that an Obama administration had spoken with him after he recently conducted a police training event.

“A young woman walks up from the administration, from the Department of Homeland Security and says, ‘Look, Dr. Walker, that’s all really interesting, but I disagree with all of it because the primary threat to America is white supremacists,'” he scoffed.

Later in the show, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich agreed with Carlson.

“The Obama administration had deliberately and willfully for seven years tried to avoid telling the American people the truth about an ideology which is an enormous threat to our civilization,” Gingrich said, “and which is winning the war.”

Stacey Dash: Black people vote for Democrats because of ’21st century Nazism’

Actress Stacey Dash asserted on Wednesday that President Barack Obama was an “Islamic fascist” and that black voters mostly supported Democrats because of “21st century Nazism.”

During a promotional interview with conservative talk show host Joe “Pags” Pagliarulo, Dash explained that she voted for Obama in 2008 because she felt pressured by the black community.

“We are more divided now that I’ve ever seen in my lifetime,” she insisted. “Because he doesn’t like the country. He’s an Islamic fascist, I believe. He doesn’t like America.”

“They’ve just politicized Islam and turned it into a fascist government.”

But she predicted that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would be more like Ronald Reagan in his governing style.

“But Donald Trump’s going to come along and here comes Ronald Reagan,” she opined. “That’s what’s going to happen.”

Pagliarulo asked Dash to explain why most black voters were Democrats.

“The liberal elites own Hollywood,” she declared. “And Hollywood dictates the culture of the country. So, as long as they do that, they control the narrative. They control the narrative that is fed to the country. The propaganda.”

“It’s like 21st century Nazism,” Dash said. “It’s ridiculous.”
