Evolution hasn't been proven at all. Anyone who knows quantum theory knows it's impossible. Things go in leaps, theres no gradual move into another species. people who learn this evolution fairy tale in school hanve to unlearn it when they come to do quantum theory. Then they realise that 2 + 2 does not equal 5.

2 + 2 != 5? O rly?
Let's see.
2.4 rounds to 2. Let us accept 2.4 as a "value" of 2.
However, if we ADD 2.4 to itself, we get 4.8. Which rounds to 5.
Therefore, 2 + 2 = 5, for sufficiently large values of 2. 2.4 is just one of these values.
"...people who learn this evolution fairy tale in school hanve to unlearn it when they come to do quantum theory."
I remember in University the pre-requisite for most physics courses was "Unlearning Evolution". Proof of irrational religious zealousness [is there any other kind?] gave one an exemption, though. What a dumbass.
Well, quacks like Deepak Chopra have been throwing around "quantum physics" to justify whatever ludicrously unsound techniques they wish to endear to the credulous. It only seems right that the fundies start using it as well.
Argumentum ad Quantum (Physics) - The perfect argument when that pesky reality starts getting in the way.
Inigo Montoya was a character from a film called "The Princess Bride" (a fantastic film by the way)
One of Inigo's most famous lines from the film was "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means". Hence the award :)
I think it is a fair bet that WS-JW doesn't know either the theory of evolution or quantum theory as well as he claims. I think his basic maths skills are a bit shaky too.
I had the good fortune, when carrying out my graduate thesis work in a field of Quantum Mechanics, to of met, and had several lectures from Richard Feynman. I am not sure what the schools teach where you are, but the school’s curriculum I am familiar with, never had any subject based on “fairy tales” per se; though it does sound like it would be easy credits. I digress.
Richard Feynman. A man, who I think all would agree, was as well versed and intellectually capable as any, in Physics and Quantum Physics particularly said,
“I think I can safely say that nobody understands Quantum Mechanics”
Perhaps you should apply for a Nobel prize, since you seem to claim such a deep understanding of the subject. I look forward to reading the many papers on Quantum mechanics you obviously must of written & published in Physics Journals, to of obtained such a deep understanding of the subject.
Anyone who knows quantum mechanics is familiar with the concept of averaging, which occurs at lengths far greater than the Planck length. Somehow, I don't think this guy quite managed to wrap his head around that.
Quantum only applies at an atomic and subatomic scale, moron. You can't apply it to something like an evolving organism, otherwise you'd get things like the time, in Pratchett's Science of Discworld, where the Bursar "catches" Uncertainty like some kind of disease (He can't know where he is and who he is at the same time, so whenever someone reminds him who he is he immediately disappears and arrives somewhere else).
I congratulate you on your arrival at the most common misconception of evolution of them all (huge, discrete jumps, eg gnat giving birth to a cow), via the most spectacular misapplication of physics imaginable! Most people arrive at it by the much easier route of just not listening properly when they have evolution explained to them.
Things go in leaps, theres no gradual move into another species
And the difference between every parent and his/her child is in fact a small leap. There is no gradual change in evolution, just something that looks gradual because of the long time span involved.
An example? Open paint, draw a line that has a 45 degree angle. Zoom in on it and you'll see that there are all those little little "steps" that add up to a straight line when not zooming in. Evolution is pretty much the same, it seems gradual but is made up of little leaps.
//"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means"//
Oh, THAT line. I kept trying to figure out how "My name in Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die," applied to this post. :-D
Dear fundies, New Agers, and the like:
Quantum theory is not whatever you want it to be. Please actually study it, as some of have at the undergrad and graduate level, and then get back to us.
In other news, walking has just been disproved. It appears that people teleport a few inches when moving, according to Dr. WS-JW, expert in the large-scale implications of Quantum Theory.
What the hell? Quantum theory has nothing whatsoever to do with evolution!
The only thing I worry about is that there are people out there who don't know this is utter crap. They might just hear the science words and assume what the guy is saying is true.
I know quantum theory.
You obviously do not.
You speak from your rectum. There is probably a biblical term for this, but I know it not.
The 'leaps' that quantum theory discusses are those between discrete (yes, it is spelled that way for this meaning)energy levels - but the difference between said energy levels is very, very, very, very, very, very, very small - around the same sort of dimension as your brain.
You have leapt into the pool of stupidity, and sunk to the bottom.
And for your information, Goddidit = 0.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
