The obvious implication: “progress” is an as-yet-unreached destination, meaning additional ambitions are desired.

I’ve seen the “slippery-slope” arguments against same-sex marriage before, but they usually said something like SSM will lead to people marrying children or animals or some crazy shit. You mean, Judge Hanson isn’t afraid of dead people or distant gods? How weird.

That would be the meaning of progressive, an openness to new changes. To examine those ‘cultural norms’ and question if they have any value in the modern world, save to provide safe spaces for snowflakes.

2,000 years of cultural norms if you limit it to one culture, conveniently forget somewhere in the ballpark of 4,000 prior years of it entirely, and all of it being subject to heavy revision to fit a moral view being spread by the sword at the mark where you seem to think existence only started to count.

DC Larson is arguing that “Democrats Will Champion Despicable Pedophilia Within Five Years, or Less” (title of the article); let’s see in 2029 if paedophilia will be advocated by the Democratic party in 2029.
