Pairings in general that can be seen as “problematic”, whether it’s because of an age gap or power dynamic. It’s a bit esoteric, I’ll admit– hence why I posted the Fanlore wiki entry.

Age gaps that “antis” find problematic include an age gap of 3 years.

The hell.
I don’t typically ship, much less ship across the age of consent, but what if i did? If i write a romance between two fictional characters, whatever their ages, i’m not touching the innocence of actual children. Time after time we tell incels that FICTION is not LIFE. Seems to apply here, too.

So, just about every day i get a notification of a cop, youth pastor, or other religious authority figure that’s been raping kids in their care for, in some cases, years. What fiction did they read that led them to do this? What website brought this about? These are real people being really harmed but it’s not ‘normalizing pedo’ that caused it. The problem is the automatic assumption that cops and preachers are above suspicion. It’s the general accepting authority figures as safe, even discounting kids’ complaints.

If you want to actually protect children, you need to leave the fiction shit alone and get information into the kids’ hands. So they can tell a grown-up. And grown-ups need to take the kids seriously.
