Has your daughter been evaluated for autism? Her story seems super autistic to me. OTOH, maybe this is where the trans movement crashes and burns as a youth craze. Furries and therians entering the scene should have been enough. But now, the robot-girl is very close to performing the so-called "right-wing meme" of "I identify as an attack helicopter!"

So wait now…I guess OP is saying that stories about robot-girls are “super autistic” or something that an autistic person would come up with? Hmm…I guess I can’t really refute that, as while I’m not a writer, I am autistic, and I do enjoy stories about “robot-girls” and really “robot people” in general. One of my favorite shows ever is “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and I always liked the episodes centered around Data. ”The Measure of a Man” from season 2 is fuckin’ classic IMO. But I don’t know if I like it because I’m autistic, sometimes a good story is a just a good story.

Same here. Both autistic and philosophical stories about the nature of (true) AI, wether it’s alive and sapient and conscious, and “do androids dream” stuff really resonates with me. Plus, Cortana & Joyeuse (Halo), EDI (Mass Effect 3), Curie (Fallout 4), and Aigis (Persona 3) are great robo-waifus.
One thing that does bug me about Stargate as a franchise is that its characters tend NOT to see AIs as alive. Granted, almost all of those AIs were versions of the dreaded, omnicidal Replicators, but they rarely if never hesitated to betray or kill off even the very few “moral” Replicators. Which did end up biting them in the behind at least once.

I still run into people who are upset about the kitty litter in some of our once-proud schools.
Both my wife and I are somewhere on the autistic spectrum (we also strongly support trans humans). She cleans up oil spills for a living and I'm a paramedic. There certainly are debilitating cases of the tism, but it's not some smoking gun for all of one's problems. If this person was evaluated and found to be autistic, would that change anything for that individual? Maybe, maybe not. Would OP use the diagnosis to marginalize them even further? Absolutely.

This is one of my favorite things about Star Trek - it’s not just about tech and fighting aliens like a lot of right wingers think of it. So many of the episodes involve questions of philosophy, history, and socio-political issues. It is a true thinking person’s show.
