The study concluded that Australopithecus sediba was a transitional form of ancient human relative and its spine is clearly intermediate in shape between those of modern humans and great apes -- meaning that the species would have possessed both human and ape-like traits in its movements.

Thank you for showing off your complete scientific illiteracy with just one headling - it is obvious that humans cannot be anything but derived apes, we already know that the Australicines are transistional in our phylogenesis - this is simply more insight on the details on how it happened -, and even if sub–Saharan humans were a taxon distinct from the rest of extant humanity - they are not at all —, this would have happened far later.
And finally: What is wrong with being evolved from apes?

And even by your framework, if Australopithecus sediba was a form of a human relative, then it was a human relative.
And of course, humans are humans. Pictures on my wall prove that white humans and black humans are capable of interbreeding. So, same species.
