Are you into top-of-the-range Hi-Fi? Then you're an Audiophile. Do you like wine (even creating a varied wine cellar)? Then you're an Oneophile, and not into the practice of Onan.

Ignorance is no excuse for anything. Saying 'I don't know' is the beginning of wisdom (it's certainly the basis of science). If you're not sure about a word & it's meaning, that's why dictionaries exist.

Just because you 'thought it was just another atheist insult, a cross between pedophile and Bible', you've just proved the adage '"Assume". Where you make an ASS out of U, but not ME.'

Such is the mindset of the right-wing fundie. How being uneducated is a virtue (for fear of being educated would result in thinking for yourself, and thus doing a Jonathan Edwards). And fundie Christianity's unjustifiable illiteracy & stupidity. One word: 'Hoemskuling'.

If anything, this is a prime example of hyper-fundieness.

As if it would kill them to not be fundietarded, only their unjustifiable 'beliefs' would be destroyed (and there are educated Christians, Muslims et al; simply those who acknowledge that much of what their beliefs are based on are purely fable & metaphor: as in not to be taken literally). As if admitting that what is the basis of said 'beliefs' are wrong in every conceivable way - as in 'Bible Literalism', 'YEC', 'Creationism' (Genesis) etc are ALL wrong, and lies - would kill them? It certainly did the likes of Jonathan Edwards no harm. He's still here, Ray.

Next time, Ray Cumfart, start apologising for being a right-wing fundie. By becoming a Quaker or a Unitarian Universalist: a non-fundie Christian.

Wow, lots of people are taking Ray "Banana" Comfort's side here. First of all, does it matter that he admitted his mistake? Really, it's just something that you're supposed to do; it's just common sense. It reminds me of that Chris Rock routine:

While it may be impressive that Comfort, of all people, admitted a mistake--considering his extreme arrogance and tendency to think he knows everything about subjects he clearly hasn't read about--that he just assumed that the word "bibliophile" was some atheist insult aimed at Christians is ridiculous AND fundie. I mean for God's sake, I knew the suffix "-phile" meant a love of something when I was in middle school, and that it isn't limited to the word "pedophile". This is an incredibly ignorant, anti-atheist, kneejerk reaction to something I consider a compliment (being a lover of books is great!). So yes, it belongs here.

Watch his *Ahem* "educational" series "Way of the Master" and you'll see he's worse.

The screaming cartoon character going ape-scat over gheys or evilution or his inability to pay income tax is an example of an unfit mutation. They are too obvious, too easy to ignore or excoriate.

Ray is of a differen mold. He's the false friend. The creepy dogged "nice" guy that wants you to think he cares aboub you when he wants your money, your obedience and your unquestioned dedication to performing his tasks. Like a virus crossed with the worst class of snake-oil salesman he is the sort of gospel-selling mountebank that makes more honorable grifters and hustlers turn their noses up in disgust. At least they only want to fleece a mark and move on. He wants you to depend on him for your every thought. And if you don't think Bananaman here is a cult leader in training, check out his episode on Satan and notice that at the end he says that all Christian churches that aren't exactly as paranoid and fundamentalist as he is are secretly satanically infiltrated and must be left. For a more "Way of the Master" approved kind of church, of course.

In conclusion, he's creepy, he's insincere, he's willfully ignorant, and he has an inflated sense of his own importance.

Then you jump to 1963, I'm not sure if you're having us on or not but nobody ever claimed that Banana didn't exist thousands of years ago, except Comfort, because his example didn't. And by that, I mean every claim by Comfort of Gods perfection in the Banana is a man made tweak of a very flat, very seedy and very small amount of lovely tasty pulp that he claims has always existed and somehow was available to all mankind.

This is why his Banana proof is completely wrong and lame and stupid and beyond defense.

Are we the ones who make him think the 'Crocoduck' is a credible argument against Evolution? Do we Atheists control the way he thinks, and what he's indoctrinated himself with, which makes him say such arse gravy? We're not the ones Saying the Darned Things he is. Well, all Ray Cumfart has to do is to admit his entire fundie way of thinking - which makes him ASSume & jump to unjustifiable conclusions (because being educated with the proven facts would make him think for [i]him[/i]self otherwise), therefore demonstrating his & his own insane 'beliefs' - is completely wrong in every conceivable way, and having no alternative but to become an educated non-fundie Christian, dropping the whole unjustifiable 'YEC'/'Literal Biblical Creationism' BS (when even the Church of England openly admit that much of the Bible - including Genesis - is nothing more than fable & metaphor), and promoting such a diametrically opposite way of thinking on his TV programme (Big Bang, Evolution etc) wouldn't kill him.

So why not get with the program?

All it takes is to either consult a dictionary or look up said word via an internet online dictionary/thesaurus. It prevents you from making a complete tit of yourself in public/the world. But then, looking up/researching things requires intelligence; I refer you to the quotes by Martin Luther & Bertrand Russell previously, Ray.
