Also at stake are the morals of our children, because if evolution is true, there are no moral absolutes and only the strongest have a right to survive. If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible.

Fark. How many times do we have to explain it? It's survival of the fittest , not survival of the strongest!
Grr, Morbo, if you please...
"Thank you puny earthling. *Ahem* EVOLUTION DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!"
Thank you Morbo.
"if evolution is true, there are no moral absolutes and only the strongest have a right to survive" - ummm if evolution is true then only the strongest WILL BE ABLE TO SURVIVE. It wouldn't make sense to kill so called 'weaker' people as there'd be no need, they'd die out naturally anyway.
Also, what is wrong with euthanasia, so long as it's consentual? Same goes for porn - if all involved are doing it of their own free will and making a living then why is it bad? And again, what's wrong with homosexuality if you ignoe Teh Babble eh? And as for incest...it's freakin' weird and very, very ewwww and it leads to deformed offspring - but to be honest if some brother and sister are doing eachother somewhere I really couldn't give a toss mostly.
The "evolution means there are no morals" is such an old, retarded argument and it's already been addressed countless times so I'm not going to bother explaining why that claim is balls.
"...If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible."
If closed-mind stupidity is true then bigotry, fundamentalism, prurience, sexual frustration, psychological damage, religious persecution, reversion to medieval mindset are all permissible.
No, Kent, natural selection does not mean that anything goes. I know that's how you scare the sheeple into rejecting it, but you should be ashamed of yourself for lying like that.
If I type on this keyboard, the sky is blue. Butterflies are naturally pretty, and thus properties of space-time within the inner event horizon of a black hole allow objects to move away from the singularity. My logic is infallible.
Also at stake are the morals of our children, because if the Bible is true, there are no moral absolutes and only those who claim to the the magic sky daddy's favorites have a right to survive. If Bible is true, genocide, slavery, child sacrifice if you made an oath to do so, stoning women who are guilty until proved innocent, incest if you get your father drunk first, etc., are all permissible.
"If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible."
Is it a coincidence that you forgot to add tax-evasion, theft and lying to that list?
... probably not.
Is there a recognized logical fallacy for the evolutionary slippery slope yet? If not, I want to have this recognized as a subspecies of logical fallacy. It's most closely related to the slippery slope, but it shares a great many alleles with strawmen. I wonder if that is an analogous trait that developed independenly, or if they all share a common ancestor.
What should it be named?
But abortion, euthanasia, pornography, homosexuality, adultery, and incest are permissible.
If Evolution is true, the only thing it means is that we had a common ancestor with nowadays chimps and gorillae. How we should proceed is a different matter altogether. Put it this way, following your logic, gravity would incite suicide. Or well, any scientific discovery would automatically mean that there are no moral absolutes and..................well, how would you use a computer?
Hovind logic:
all who are not Bible-believing fundie Baptists like me are atheists.
All atheists believe abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are permissible
No Bible-believing fundie Baptist believes in evolution.
Therefore, all who believe in evolution believe abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc. are permissible
I think the real issue here is how many fundies would actually count as "the fittest" if it came down to it?
I mean, when people misconstrue the theory of evolution this badly, you have to wonder what it is they're scared of.
Re: The evil list that the evil evilution allows.
Abortion: Forgive me for feeling a girl should not be saddled with a baby if she's not ready for it. It does no good for anyone to force it upon her.
Euthanasia: So we should keep people alive for as long as possible, prolonging their agony and misery? Which one is playing God again?
Pornography: Who cares? It's his/her body. If s/he wants to show it off to the world, it's his/her business. You don't wanna see it, don't look.
Genocide: Reprehensible, but I fail to see how ToE validates this (or anything, for that matter.) If anything, religion has been the basis for more genocide than any scientific reasoning. (Before you go on Hitler's Eugenics, he validated it as doing the Lord's work. Religious.)
Homosexuality: 2. Consenting. Adults. Not. Your. Business.
Adultery: Distasteful, in my opinion, but see above.
Incest: See adultery.
Evolution is true.
Read Aesop's Fables for your morality.
Read your local newspaper for what the real world does to criminals.
I guess tax fraud falls under "etc.".
"If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide, homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible."
Has it escaped your tiny mind that all the things you mentioned were happening long before evolution was formulated as a theory by Charles Darwin?
1) you're getting evolution confused with... well actually I can't think of anythingthat would have the effect you describe.
2)some of those really are fine. the rest don't make you any more likely to breed because you also have to be attractive to other human beings before you can reproduce.
3) the exception to the above is rape, the solution to which is EC and abortion, both of which you are vehemently against.
"If evolution is true, abortion, euthanasia, pornography, genocide , homosexuality, adultery, incest, etc., are all permissible."
"So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev, the western foothills and the mountain slopes, together with all their kings. He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
-- Joshua 10:40
No, they're not. Not all of them. Certain morals are universal, proving that they sprung from human nature. Evolutionists are human, and so have human morals. Those include pronogroaphy, genocide, ect. Homosexuality, euthenasia, and abortion are up to a person.
The incest part is particularly ironic.
Evolution does actually not approve of incest, cause it's a bad idea to combine genes that are so similar.
The bible, on the other hand, DOES approve of it.
- Adam and Eve's kids
- Abraham says: "Oh by the way, this is my wife, Sarah. And she's my sister too".
- Lot, or who was it, gets drunk and his daughters sleep with him. I think they got kids from that too.
Non-sequitur.
Look it up, dude.
Where in the bible does it say incest is wrong? If anything it's been a raving endorsement of it (Adam&Eve, Noah's Ark, Sodom&Gamorrah...)
Oh, it's a moral absolute when you say it is, gotcha.
Don't you have some taxes to go evade, Kent?
By the way, Science isn't dependent on how you want things to be, so suck it up.
Guess we just have to continue to teach our kids to follow the law and to treat others as you want to be treated. It has worked well so far.
Evolution is just a process in nature, it tells nothing about whats permissible or not, any more than sunrise and sunset do.
Nobody has a right to survive, stupid. Only the ones who are adapting to the changing environment will survive long enough to find a mate and have offspring.
As we humans are physically rather weak, we need each other to survive. Killing each other, whether through genocide, murder, war or death penalties, is counter-productive, evolutionary-wise.
Evolution IS a fact. Get with the program, Kenny. Or have you had enough of programs in jail?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
