Yes.
The only son of a family friend died of heart failure during a pick-up basketball game in the 80's. He was a healthy young man in his 20's with no history of heart trouble.
The only daughter of that same friend died on a ventilator last year of Covid.

I’ve been reading the news since the 1980s, and not just the “front page” stuff, back when my only real source was newspapers. And: Yes, all the time.
It would be one thing if this were a 20-something who only just started to really pay attention to the news, but this guy is 67. He has no excuse.

Not in high school, but he was a wide receiver playing for the Detroit Lions in 1971, who literally dropped dead on the field in the middle of a game, due to undiagnosed arteriosclerosis. So, it’s not really a new phenomenon.
