@Zachski
"And I'm sure he believes that, too.
The problem is that "being shocked into submission" is not consent."
Prove that it was so. The comments alone don't support that theory. They also so obviously filled with hyperbole that it further undermines your accusations so all you've proven so far is that:
1. You don't understand locker room banter.
2. You read into things that aren't there.
3. You don't understand hyperbole.
I mean honestly if your dudebro friend told you in the context of a locker room banter "Wow I made so much money on the stock market these past years I'm a fucking gangsta alpha, I own these people like they're my bitch, SUCKERS" are you seriously going to argue they've been involved in financial fraud, organized crime and slavery and this is a credible admission of a crime (as opposed to you know, over-the-top dudebro talk)? This is exactly what you would need to argue for.
"Let's not forget about him walking into the dressing rooms of underage girls while they were in various states of undress, too."
Baseless rumors. Also unproven.
I'm even less inclined to believe stuff like this that "strategically" comes out exactly one month before the election with no evidence.
"In other words, she did what every attorney is supposed to be doing in the USA - aim for a not guilty verdict."
Yes.
The attack on the victim was still uncalled for. This is a kid. It's irrelevant whether or not she "consented" by some stretch of the definition of consent. 12 year olds can't actually consent and this was undeniably a forcible rape. She was in the hospital for fuck's sake. You can argue that your client didn't do it, but denying the obvious is desperately grasping at straws. What fucking jury is going to be convinced by: well she was asking for it cause she seeks out older men. Irrelevant. She can't give consent.
And the way she talked about her and the case to the press was also uncalled for.
@Pharoah
"Remember - the alternative is innocent people being locked up because their lawyers intentionally throw the court case thanks to being funded by private prisons."
Actually there is an alternative which is to yeah, do your job, but don't cross the line.
There was no need to shame the victim, spread lies about her (again it's a kid, it wouldn't make a difference if she agreed to the act) or even talk about the case to the press. Personally I would be seriously embarrassed to help someone like that go free or get a much lighter sentence, I'd do my job yes, but I'd never talk about it ever again after the trial, not even with close friends, let alone the press.
Really. Are you seriously going to put "I helped a pedo walk away" in your resume?
Like even if you want to brag about being this really awesome criminal defense attorney, can't you do it more subtle? We really don't need to know all the details.
