Relating to a physical attack on two lesbians by a shouting, crazed man :
"It certainly would prove to be very sad if the attack was due to the women's mental illness they both suffer from."

So what mental illness did the lesbians have--oh, wait, that's you're way of expressing your bigotry without making it too obvious. Too bad we all noticed what a homophobic jackass you're being, in spite of your failed attempt at subtlety.
So?
Homosexuality is probably a genetic error of some kind, since reproduction is the reason behind sex. That doesn't mean it's wrong, amoral or even unnatural in any way. The genetic error may be nature's way of trying to keep populations down.
I have absolutely nothing against homosexuals and I'm an atheist, but it's still likely that homosexuality is an abnormality, sort of the same as with midgets and albinos. Obviously nobody thinks albinos are any less moral.
- And since homosexuality is a psychological thing, calling it a mental illness isn't necessarily completely wrong. I'd agree it sounds pretty condescending, but I don't know how he meant it.
Nevermind the actual mental illness the guy suffered from.
I mean, he was crazed AND shouting.
And presumably attacked because they were lesbians.
So he's either insane or doesn't like lesbians for some reason.
Perhaps they refused to give him pix?
I live in Oshawa, where this happened and I'm ashamed this happened here. I read the original article on this and apparently the man didn't believe he'd done nothing wrong, and he was allowed to go home after the incident. I just couldn't believe it.
@ Slater
I'm going to try and be as nice about this as possible, but you're wrong. Heterosexulity is not the only right sexuality, and sex is far from just about reproducation. Sex can be so many many things, and homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality, bisexuality is even moe natural. Letting a person's gender be the primary reason why you are attracted just isn't right. Attraction based on personality and love is much more fulfilling, and love should never be restricted just because of gender. Just because you're uncomfortable with homosexuality doesn't give you the right to call it unnatural. Every person is to an extent bisexual, it's how we know what's attractive in ourselves to the opposite gender. Homosexual and bisexual behaviour occurs among animals, it doesn't get much more natural then that.
I forgot to mention, the first woman he attacked already hada broken spine! I mean she had to be wearing some sort of brace or somethig. Not only does this large man attack two small women, but he attacks the injured one first! Did it make you feel like a man? I just bet it did.
Homosexuality is not a mental illness, you moron. Blind bigotry is.
Besides, even if, for the sake of argument, homosexuality was in fact a mental illness, would you approve a crazed man attacking someone who had depression? Would you approve a crazed man attacking someone who was bipolar (and not violent)? Being mentally ill does not mean that you're automatically a free target for people to attack with impunity. Sanctimonious bigot.
Hmm...
Bob : Jay and I just recently got married. I love Jay with all my heart, more than anything. I am so happy Jay is in my life, I feel like I am with the perfect person for me to share my life with. I am so lucky to have someone as beautiful as Jay.
Bigot : You disgusting, repulsive sinner. You will pay for being gay!
Bob : ...What exactly are you talking about? Jay is short for Jayne.
Bigot : Whupppps...... :D!!!! Beautiful!
I rest my case.
@Kelly: Okay, I'm going to be as nice as I can, but... next time you want to flame someone, please read the post you're flaming first. It'll save you some embarrassment.
Allow me to direct your attention towards the fact that I explicitly said it was NOT unnatural. I'll just do you a favour and ignore the rest of your post.
There is actually more argument for religious belief to be a mental illness than homosexuality. Not that either is, I'm just saying if they want to start arbitrily abusing the diagnosis system, we can too.
@Slater
To be fair, you do state that homosexuality probably is abnormal, and you even go as far as to claim it is a psychological phenomenon, which might be viewed as mental illness. To my mind that is not far from what Tyberius originally said.
Kelly sets this straight (no pun intended) by pointing out that bisexuality is probably a more natural state for man, as well as stating that homosexuality also occur among most other species on the planet. The logical conclusion from this is that 1) homosexuality is in no way abnormal, and that 2) it is in no way a mental illness or a psychological phenomenon.
@Journeyer:
No, not an illness, I'm just saying Tyberius isn't THAT far off. Not for a fundie, at least.
With regards to abnormality - of course it is. Left handedness is an abnormality, simply because most people are right handed. I don't know a lot of people who would deny that, but at the same time, I don't know anyone who feels that left handedness is wrong, unnatural or immoral in any way. THAT's what the fundies have to work on with regards to homosexuality - the hatred towards the abnormality. Not that they feel it's abnormal -- because it is, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
