[I have passed out Chick tracts for the longest time and love the fact that people read them. However, some of my friends, family, and acquaintances despise them. What are your takes on these tracts in comic cartoon form?]
Chick tracts hit sinners right between the eyes with their sin. It also hits the saved right between the eyes with their sin. Those who do not want to conform to God's will, will always despise them.
Question: If they bring people to salvation, who else despises them? Satan.

"If they bring people to salvation, who else despises them?"
Well, Chick tracts don't bring salvation, and everyone who isn't deluded by Fundiethink and who has a speck of taste dispises them.
I despise them because:
1. The storylines are terrible on all levels. Basic, cliche, predictable, bigoted, etc.
2. They distort the Bible almost beyond recognition.
3. The messages are complete garbage and represent a brand of thought-control religion that passed its use-by date even before the end of Medieval times.
4. They're nothing short of lying for Jesus.
5. When employed as toilet paper, they don't do a good job.
Nothing to do with sin or Satan.
Bullshit. I love action movies but Speed 2’ is a pile of shit. Just because something claims or represents some sort of perceived good’ doesn’t mean it IS good.
You have red clothes. Guess who else loves red? SATAN!
You have heat in your house. Guess who else loves heat? SATAN!
I could do this all day but it wouldn’t mean jack shit, just like your comment.
"Chick tracts hit sinners right between the eyes with their sin."
Um, no. However they DO hit my laugh muscles. And they hit DAMN hard there, I give you that.
Seriously, I can only recommend reading them, they're pretty hilarious - http://enterthejabberwock.com/index.php?cat=12 has commented versions of them.
@anti-nonsense:
Heh, thats my favourite. The girl playing DnD... BY HERSELF! Then, the other one killing herself because she lost a friggin character. RPG magic fuctioning in real life... also, Diana?
Pure hilarity for anyone who got a single clue about Roleplaying (especially DnD)
backup1723, who is still waiting for his DM to iniate him into "real magic" XD
Frankly, if there is a Satan, he really loves Chick tracts, because they make Christians out to be ignorant, hateful idiots.
I'm sure Jack Chick loves you too, every time he cashes another big check, he loves you all the way to the bank. Then he laughs his butt off and brags about he used to have to work for he a living till he found an endless supply of suckers.
Those who do not want to conform to God's will, will always despise them. Of course. God forbid there's something wrong with them without you realizing. Evidently it's just that us evil Satanic heathens hate Christians.
Pretty much anyone who has read the Bible and as some sense in them realizes how bad Chick Tracts are, how they distort the Bible, how they are bigoted, how they present needlessly cruel and inaccuract stereotypes, and how they're not even funny... they are kind of sad, actually, that people would believe them. What ever happened to "do unto others as others would do to you"? I doubt rude stereotypes fits into that!
If you are a rabid "landmark" Baptist who prefers comics to reading, hates Jews, Catholics, gays, anyone who reads anything but the King James Bible, anyone who participates in any kind of post-19th century activities like TV, video games, listening to pop music, etc, and thinks women ought to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, Chick Tracts will be right up your alley - in which case you needn't bother reading them. To anyone else, which is the other 99% of the world, they're either highly offensive or hilariously stupid, depending on your sense of humor.
Yeah, the one about the Christian rock band sucked in by the promises of fame and fortune by one "Lou Siffer" and whose songs went something like, "We're gonna ROCK! ROCK! ROCK with the ROCK!" opened my eyes to my sins and inspired me to turn to Jesus.
Chick tracts have no redeeming value whatsoever. The messages are unsupported propaganda, the plots are boring and pathologically formulaic, the characters painfully one-dimensional and the artwork ugly, repetitive and bland. They don't stand a chance of converting anybody except the terminally gullible and unimaginative.
Regardless of who reads them, all they do is hit the reader in the face with a truckload of lies, distortions, and inaccuracies.
The fact that these are the things that it takes to bring a person to your faith makes me extremely glad I'm not a part of it.
If they bring people to salvation, who else despises them? Satan.
Strangest variation of Godwin's Law ever!
Wasn't Chick that psycho who said that playing Dungeons and Dragons would lead you to gain mystical powers of pure Satan and usher in the apocolypse?
Dude must have an Intelligence score of -39 or something.
I've never seen a Chick tract, nor had even heard of them before I joined this board, but I can only imagine from what I've read here that the only thing that would hit me between the eyes is how fucking stupid some people can be.
Could be. It could also be that they hit readers right between the eyes with Chick's...
1) utter lack of critical research
2) faulty logic
3) Logical fallacies
4) wild-eyed batshit-insane conspiracy theories
5) out-and-out verifiable lies
6) shit-tastic art and garbage storylines
7) Shallow, 1-dimensional characters and crap dialogue
So yeah, there's maybe more than one reason why "sinners" hate Chick Tracts.
It hit's me in the eyes all right, but not for that reason, it's because they are, how do I say this, stupid and insane.
Chick tracts are really, really clever and complex stories which present moral and religous issues in a fair and balanced way, while enlightening others as to the truth of the christian way. I love them./sarcasm
Chick tracts have one repeating theme, a Christian talks a bit of scripture and the other person accepts Jesus in the last panel. Like they've never heard scripture their whole life and the words are soooo compelling.
Anyone who buys that scenario is idiotic beyond belief. If you ever hear that someone converted to Christianity because of a Chick Tract: you're talking to a liar.
Confused?
