The stats prove otherwise. Immigrants are actually helpful to the economy. They take jobs that nobody else wants to do and spend the money they earn. Money that would otherwise not be in circulation because us "true Americans" don't feel like taking jobs in maintenance or migratory work. Talk to me when you can say, honestly, that you'd pick strawberries all day long for years and keep moving all over the country. Until then, stop throwing a shit-fit over people that will do all of your dirty work for you just for a chance to make a better future for themselves and their children. Isn't that the American dream? These immigrants are more American than most of the spoiled, bigoted nativists (which is a funny concept in a country founded entirely by such historically recent immigrants) I see complaining about them.
I'm sure that the chief worries of people in Havana and Pyongyang are immigration and having to purchase health insurance. Nothing to do with starvation, availability of heating or basic goods, being sent to work in a coal mine because of something your sister-in-law said, not being able to get a doctor because they're all abroad earning hard currency for the state, being afraid that you will be arrested for not crying hard enough at the Dear Leader's funeral, months of military service every year into middle age away from family and job...
The trouble with all this doomsaying is that it used to be done so much better...

I had an exchange with someone a while back who was (a) violently opposed to "Obamacare" and (b) was screaming about how unfair it was that, even though he was working, he couldn't afford health insurance.
The reaction when it was pointed out to him that he was precisely the type of person the law is intended to help was priceless. Notice that I said "intended." How things will actually work out we'll have to see.
You are doind it to yourselves. Bush's Patriot Act was the thin end of the wedge. Now your government is spying on you, Just like in Stalinist Russia, but far more effectively with modern equipments - computers and such.
The irritating thing is that the US is spying on its friends in Europe as well. How idiotic. Not a way to win hearts and minds.

Marx was in favor of international cooperation. That has NOTHING to do with North Korea... In fact, that's exactly the reason why many modern communists hate North Korea (and since North Korea's policies are based on Stalinism, they subsequently hate Stalin as well).

America is such an ideologically strange country that a rant about the power of the ruling class and the impoverishment of the middle class somehow manages to be conservative and right wing. You guys have what's called an inverted ideology, where authoritarianism has been associated with the left and libertarianism with the right, in defiance of the vast majority of historical usage. This is quite deliberate by the way. Someone is gaining by it.
