Just because you consider the field of evolution to be of dizzying intellectual complexity, doesn't mean we all do. Some of us have actually read books that have dropped from this ivory tower, and found them interesting and very easy to undertand. Try it some time.

Better having a degree from an Ivory tower than a White Castle...
That's right! Don't listen to those over-educated shitheads. They don't know nuthin'. Anyone with half a brain knows all the knowledge that's ever existed, or will ever exist, is contained in your bible.
Aw, STFU.
Yes, people who are actually qualified in a science, and are doing actual scientific research. Of course, real scientists get their qualifications from diploma mills and make up stuff that fits their preconceptions instead of doing research.
The tiresome "Ivory Tower" line is not very meaningful. Most folks who use "Ivory Tower" in this context are referring to their own anti-intellectualism, often with proud ignorance and misplaced populism in relation to some ideology that is considered, by whatever means, remotely valid.

I agree, phrased like that it makes it sound like a political discussion or a popularity contest. The man behind the curtain fundtards ignore is the evidence supports evolution. That evidence supports evolution and only evolution and exists independent of the scientists themselves. Typical fundies, can't attack the data, attack the messengers.
Indeed, I prefer to get my science from scientists who got their degree from a diploma mill, tried to con the government by saying "God doesn't pay taxes!", and chants nonsense from a jail cell.
Numbnuts.

"'scientists' in this context"
You mean there's some OTHER context?
Maybe they're looking for MDs. Since, you know, MDs aren't snooty or academics at all ever. Oh wait, what's that? They're humans too, like the rest of the PhDs and Ivory tower denziens? Oh, well fuck me.
Also, this is one more reason I want to get my PhD. The more distance from these people, the better.
Why, those stupid, ignorant Paleontology Ph.D.s!
Spending years comparing fossils to one another, reading the observations of other paleontologists who do the same, trying to come up with a picture of natural history that's consistent with all the findings, going through Peer Review so that others can point out any flaws in their theories -- sheesh! What do THEY know?!
do you have nay idea how much work and intelligence it takes to get a PhD (from a credible university) after your name?
no I thought not.
do you realize it take credible research and good arguments to become well respected in the scietific community?
no, that's why you aren't.
do you know what sciance is?
not even that huh? yeesh...
The tiresome 'scientists support evolution' line is not very meaningful.
Yeah, who'd believe one of them there biochemist or paleontologist guys who actually knows what evolution is? [/sarcasm]
Yep, totally unrelated fields. Like genetics, zoology, botany, evolutionary biology, you know what, let's just go with biology. There is support for an old earth, at least, that's what the geologists think. And the physicists seem to think that the big bang is relevant to their field as well.

I'm just a little confused, so help me out here ..... Biology, Physics, Paleontology, Zoology, et al are only considered a science??? You mean they are not real sciences???? So what are they then exactly ... English Lit? And what would be a real science ... wait let me guess .... christianity with its super science book the bible?
Most folks who use 'scientists' in this context are referring to denizens of the Ivory Tower, often with a PhD after their names
Yeah, a PhD isn't always a good indicator of reliability. After all, they're so easy to get.

in relation to some academic field that is considered a science."
Such as biology, biochemistry, paleontology and genetics. And remember, kids, it isn't pollution that is harming our environment, it's the impurities in the air and water that are doing it.
Yes, that is what people usually mean when they say "scientist", as in people that are well educated and know wtf they are talking about. As opposed to people like that don't know shit about science.
Guess which group has more credibility?
“"The tiresome 'scientists support evolution' line is not very meaningful.”
it means people who know what they’re talking about, their information on a subject is better than people who make shit up.
“Most folks who use 'scientists' in this context are referring to denizens of the Ivory Tower,”
Good Christ, no. You mean “IVY towers.” As in long-established academic institutions, where the vegetation has lasted and covered the building, as opposed to new and shiny laboratories.
And, no, we’re not saying older professors hold to Evolution, we’re saying people currently performing the research are constantly advancing the science, unlike theologists whose favorite book hasn’t been updated for 1500 years.
"often with a PhD after their names in relation to some academic field that is considered a science."
There’s a reason their ‘experts,’ yes. But we don’t believe them just because they have a doctorate. We accept the entire process of finding shit out, reporting it, getting it reviewed, fixing mistakes, and reporting it again.
It’s only tiresome if you refuse to actually learn what you’re dismissing.
Confused?
