Old Earther:
How is unending torment in the best interest of a human being?
David Taylor:
This question implies that the alternative to unending torment, (Universalism or Annihilationism) is in the best interest of a human being over the concept of unending torment.

Growth is in the best interest of human beings, naturally. It does not serve to be stunted by superstitions and crippled with fear.
IOW, take your impotent threat of eternal torment and cram it, loser.
While I'd prefer eternal torment to not existing (which seems to me an even worse torment), that doesn't mean that hell is beneficial.
I plan on living as long as possible though, so hopefully I won't have to worry about this for a few million years or so.
Universalism is the philosophy which proposes that mankind should do what benefits the most while doing the least amount of harm. There is no such thing as "annihilationism", but there is "nihilism", which is the ultimate expression of cynicism; it states that no matter what a person does, it is useless in the end. Both are better alternatives to unending torment, and you have yet to answer the question.
WTF? Begging the question to the utmost...
These *are* actual beliefs, though.
Universalism (in this sense) is the belief that everyone goes to heaven (eventually; it can include a purgatory or "temporary hell" for some).
Annihilationism is the belief that some go to heaven, and those who do not cease to exist (rather than go to hell). Both views have a long history in Christianity (Origen, living in the late second and early third century, proposed a form of universalism).
The entire framing of the question 'is it in the best interest' is really creating a flawed question to begin with.
The Lord sets the best interest for all of creation; His creation; based on His perfect understanding
So fundie Xianity makes you so batshit insane that you believe that unending torment is in the best interest of a human being?
Does anyone else agree that we need to make sure these people don't have children, or end up anywhere near delicate minds? These people are stone fuck nuts.
"Seek Jesus before it's too late."
Why, does he have an expiration date or something? Will he go bad?
Anyone who would torture someone or something at all, let along forever, is not good in their heart. They are cruel and vindictive. It is an abuse of power and shows the presence of a mental disorder.
Confused?
