The Capitol Insurrection was this fucking year and the same Republican slime creatures that barricaded themselves hiding in mortal terror while the media, the trapped, and the murderous mob itself all gave live coverage are trying to say it never happened.

If American tourists actually are prone to breaking down doors, smearing shit on the walls, looting, and loudly announcing their intent to lynch specific individuals - then proceed to brag publicly about it all confused and somehow offended at their resulting arrests - a worldwide travel ban is in order. You are not sending us your best.
Obviously the Republican party thinks their voters are complete idiots with no attachment to reality and the memory retention of drug-addled brain-damaged goldfish... and you clearly prove that idea has merit. The idea that politicians should fear their voters has taken its most twisted form and rather than a healthy fear of being voted out for betraying the interests of the population your manipulators see you as an unspoken death threat they can leverage against the majority to overcome a lack of popular support and the limitation of legitimate legal avenues while claiming deniability, no matter how implausible.

The Lost Cause of the Confederacy is a fact- and source-denying hypothesis that the South had another reason than keeping slavery as an institution alive for its secession (i.e. some imagined and undefined ‘northern aggression’).
Revisionism is necessary when new data and the removal of biases force us to change our understanding of history. Using it as a propaganda tool is dangerous and an unforgiveable intellectual crime in my opinion.
Fuck the Republicans and anyone else who does that! So much of history has been lost because people changed documents, banned names, tried to make themselves look better and their enemies worse, it’s already a mess. Don’t add to that for short-term political gain!
The confederates themselves were more than clear about the fact that the reason for seceding was slavery and the fear of it being abolished. They wrote and told it themselves, multiple times in fact!
If the Confederacy had been established as a second ‘States of America’, would Confederate slavery have continued into the 1900s? Or would the CSA have abolished it maybe around the time slavery was abolished in Brazil, 1888?
