In the west, we have a live and let live attitude toward other religions (for the most part); however, Islam is an all or nothing deal. There is no tolerance for other religions.
Of course many Muslims are nice and pleasant. That's their MO until their population grows to critical mass. When that happens, as it's begun to in Europe, watch out because they have one objective: world domination, and that does not fit with the American way, democracy and religious pluralism. Sharia Law is how they will manage it.
Islamic ideology is incompatible with democracy.

In the west, we have a live and let live attitude toward other religions, except where we don't. Apart from where we don't tolerate other religions, we totally tolerate all religions.
Lol.
More accurately: most fundies are "tolerant" of other Protestant religions, and will tolerate Catholics if they need numbers to show the US is a Christian nation. They'll go to a Jewish doctor or lawyer, because of course they're naturally skilled at such things. However, the Founding Fathers never intended us to be tolerant of weird religions like Islam, Buddhism, or Taoism, and certainly not atheists.
Most Christian sects are tolerant of others only because they haven't got a large enough majority to outlaw them. They're tolerant of each other the same way the US and USSR were tolerant of each other during the Cold War.
Meanwhile, in Scotland:

Queen, Country, Flag, and Allah. And in that order, I'd say. Also, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan; he has a Fatwa out on him, for his campaigning for LGBT rights.
NEXT!
You kidding me? We had a HUGE controversy because JFK was a CATHOLIC. That's not even a different religion, it's a sect of the primary religion of the country. And there are millions of people voting for Trump because they think he'll get rid of all the Muslims. Hell, the DNC even thought they could potentially use Sanders' alleged atheism against him. We're pluralistic only because the Constitution forces government to be so, not because Christians are more tolerant than other religions.
But Anonymoose, I have it on good authority from some other guy in England that the Muslims are already destroying the country and taking it over. It's literally the first country anybody mentions as exhibit A when making this Islam as toxin argument (along with France).
And they say it with such certainty, as if they can see the House of Commons on fire from their living rooms...
"That's their MO until their population grows to critical mass"
Is there even a historical example of this happening at all?
Muslims are human, while there are many shitty Muslims like any other group of humans.
That means they aren't a fucking hivemind going "DOMINATE! DOMINATE!!!!!"
@Moose-sama
I never mentioned before, but for the longest time I was slightly put off by clothes made out of flag designs. It never really made sense and made me think of an ultra-nationalist, because this is America, where extremists get TV and radio shows. But seeing that nice Union Jack hijab makes me see it as just a happy expression of being glad to live somewhere. It also makes me think it would have been fun to see my high school biology teacher in a stars and stripes hijab (chew on that, thatbrian, she was a female Muslim teacher and she was my favorite teacher. At a Catholic school. And they didn't care she wore the hijab at all times.)
If in "live and let live" there's supposed to be an implied "for a limited number of extremely similar variations of our own sect of Abrahamic religion when circumstances restrain us" then sure. Long history of that.

Just like Christian ideology.
One of my former partners is a genderfluid, bisexual, anti-sexist, geeky kinkster. She tends to date atheists & pagans (and me, who falls somewhere in between). And she happens to be Muslim.
You want to tell her she's intolerant & wants sharia? Good luck with that.
Confused?
