By 2015, the deterioration of language was far-reaching. I participated in the legal efforts to resist the redefinition of family because I knew that every child has a mother and father, somewhere, even if one or both are in the grave. The only possession with which a child is naturally born, in fact, is his relationship to the man and woman from whose flesh he was conceived. Court after court brushed aside this commonsense reality and instead lost its train of thought in bizarre word definitions.

Okay, this is a biological fact. What use it has in defining ‘family’ is minimal. As you say, sometimes the mother/father/both are dead.
What good is it for an adopted child to think that the people he lives with are acquaintences, while his ‘family’ is in lot 303 and 304?
I raised my three boys and love them. If it turns out that my wife was cheating on my 30 years ago, or the hospital switched kids around, i have still spent thirty years wiping their noses, changing their clothes, reading to them, being read to by them, discipline, gifts, travel, questions, questions, questions…. That’s family, dork, even if i’m not genetically attached to one or more of them.
ROL: “I participated in the legal efforts to resist the redefinition of family because I knew that every child should have a stay-at-home mother and a breadwinning father, the latter being the family’s ‘The family - that’s me!’ autocratic ruler. Just like Beaver Cleaver. Court after court brushed aside this commonsense reality and instead lost its train of thought in bizarre word definitions.”
Real talk, FSTDT, what it it with these moronic nutjobs and their obsession with the word “family”? Maybe there is a cultural or religious context I’m missing, but with them desparately trying to redefine the word “family” (while accusing everyone else of doing the same) and stuff like “family friendly” censorship…
I mean, to most sane people, family is just whatever you make of it. Adopted children, stepparents, LGBTQ+ couples, pets, close friends… They can all be considered part of a true family, oftentimes more than biological relatives who just don’t care about you at all.
On a side note, what does the term “nuclear family” even mean?
They’re attempting to control society by definitions. Can’t have ‘same sex marriage’ if marriage is DEFINED as man-woman-having-babies.
That way, someone cannot claim to be a husband or wife and enjoy the same legal rights and benefits that REAL wives and husbands enjoy.
Family has never MEANT only Leave It To Beaver structures, but these people always understood it that way. Telling them the world outside their head doesn’t match makes them fearful. God only knows where this could lead.
They’re frightened that they’ll lose privilegs, maybe be treated like they want homosexuals treated.
Like that Jan 6 rioter, face down as he was being cuffed, his world view was threatened and he shouted, ’You’re treating me like a black person!’
And the ‘nuclear family’ is the husband/wife/2.5 kids model that Americans have convinced themselves it the ‘basic’ model by which all others are judged. The smallest reducible organization that can be called ‘family.’
Never mind how many, many families have existed that don’t fit the TV model, they still think this is what they cherish.

Zeus? Cared? That’s pushing it…
On the other hand, he only ever slept with women because they caught his fancy, not to further any other agenda. He didn’t sleep with anyone BECAUSE the world needed spiders, or there weren’t enough constellations… So, yeah, Zeus morally superior to Jehovah.
All in the family...yes, LGBTQ people do have them. Not just a mother and father, of course, but also other family, even children of their own. Nobody is redefining anything.
…so ‘Family' can be that oh so morally ‘defined' by, for example… Jim-Boob & Meech Buggar then, OP?! The first - and ‘favourite' - spawned by them: Josh.
That which can be ‘defined' by you as the ‘Nuclear Family' - since late last year - went into meltdown so much, that which you ‘define' is now infinitely more toxic than Chernobyl.
Oh, I'm afraid that - certainly since Josh ‘Pest' Buggar was sentenced to 12 years recently - the Family can be defined as that represented in an oh so morally superior way by Sir Elton John, David Furnish & their two sons: because it makes the so-called ‘Nuclear Family’ more than obsolete:
The Fusion/Antimatter Family.
That's how you only have the right to define such now, post-Buggars.

Meanwhile, Ares genuinely cared about at least nearly all his children. (It’s Eurytion, Geryon’s cowherd, whom I’m unsure about.) His daughter Callirhoe gets raped by one of Poseidon’s sons? Said son of Poseidon gets effaced by Ares—and when Poseidon tried to get Ares censured for it, the Olympian court ruled for Ares.

Well, he did bring Dionysus home to Olympus after incinerating his mother by revealing his full godly splendor, so that's something, at least. Shame he was too busy getting his leg over to keep his sister/wife from trying to snake-murder Alcaeus.
(I might have been something of a Greek mythology geek in my younger days. I blame Lou Ferrigno, Kevin Dipstick and the old cartoon from the '60's.)
OT, I notice how the term “family” is always meant to imply that LGBTQ+ people don't have families or aren't included in families. Yes, it's meant to denote “Ward-June-Wally-and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver” normativity, and clearly “Lance and his roommate Kyle” isn't mentioned there and therefore gay people just step out of the mists of Avalon or something. They're never born, and if they were and Mumsy and Dadsy expelled them from the household then they were right to do so but that never happens because they AREN’T born, they just congeal ex nihilo on Fire Island or something.
They intentionally ignore that some families have gay people in them, because it makes dehumanizing them so much easier.
What a cold way to define family. No love, no connection, no caring, just genes. Even if the people you share your genes with are dead or abusive, that's all that family is.
Confused?
