To those Americans who oppose lethal injection: Do you know what the consequences of your self-righteous actions will mean for you and your families in the near future? Do you know what the most agreed upon method of execution, even more favored than the firing squad or hanging is?
Beheading; is that what you want for your children? Talk about unintended consequences. Just like the consequences of the Pentagon opening up all jobs in combat units to women; now not only are our sons eligible to be drafted into war, so are our daughters.

So, if enough people oppose death by lethal injection, the American government will be forced to resort to decapitation?
Why wouldn't the powerful anti-injection lobby just stop that too? Wouldn't that lobby consist mostly of people against the death penalty full stop?

And I'm pretty sure women still don't have to sign up for Selective Service. Though, I never thought of that...maybe they should now? Hm.
What we want is to end a barbaric practice, one based entirely on an emotional need for retribution/revenge, and replace it with a system that focuses on rehabilitation first, quarantine second. Those that can be rehabilitated are introduced into society and become productive members of it. Those that can't are held indefinitely.
This is how countries with low recidivism rates and diminishing crime rates do it.

If there is no capital punishment, by any means, it means your taxes pay for them in jail. Beheading is archaic, except in some Muslim countries, which he was probably trying to refer to.

We haven't had the draft since the 1970's, and even today only men of the age of 18 have to register for Selective Service.
1. So there are no alternatives between doing what a few states do and doing what people the other side of the world do? In fact, the "most agreed method" is not to execute at all, because most of humanity has decided that it is barbaric and ineffective.
I'm not sure what these two things have to do with each other. I oppose capital punishment, but I do think we should move away from lethal injection to beheading or firing squad. They are both relatively quick and I think we should be honest about what we are doing. IF witnesses are traumatized by seeing a violent execution, maybe we'll think about whether or not we should be executing people.

I'm not sure how you got there from here, but I have no problem with this. If we're going to be drafting people, why not do it equally?
Well, the chemical compounds used in lethal injections in the US have been blocked by the relevant - and only ones allowed to manufacture such - companies in Europe.

I'm reminded of the TV film "The Executioner's Song". Is there such thing as a bad Tommy Lee Jones film? Even in comedies such as the "MiB" films, he has so much credibility as a damn good actor, it should be a crime !
If you had any idea what it's like to get old and die in prison, you'd be all for abolishing the death penalty. Letting nature take it's course with limited medical care is by far the cruelest choice.
Americans only stopped opposing lethal injection after it became obvious that the drug compounders and executioners had no idea what they were doing. Beheading is probably much less painful, and the only reason we don't do it is related to our odd notions about the "sanctity" of the body.
