If the Supreme Court rules in favor of same-sex marriage (and they probably will), what are the short- and long-term effect on the United States?
The effect will be a continuing slide towards further debauchery, eventually leading to sex with animals and sex with children from about age 10 onwards decriminalised.
Note: this slide did NOT begin with the legalising of same-sex "marriage". That is just a point on the descent that adds power to the arm of the "progressives". It began with society accepting non-procreative sex between men and women.

Look, just because you need a microscope, tweezers, and Viagra to get it up and you think it's a sin if the woman climaxes too doesn't mean your ilk has to ruin sex for the rest of us

Yeah, funny how it's only you religious nuts who keep bringing up sex with animals and children. And speaking of children, that's an awfully specific age you're predicting. Considering the clergy's track record with pedophilia, and how much thought you seem to have put into gay marriage leading to legalized pedophilia, is there perhaps something that you'd like to admit to us?

Yeah, the vast majority of societies all over the world, both before and after the establishment of christianity, have been "accepting non-procreative sex". It's only you christian nuts who have this childish fear of sex. Keep your insecurities and self-loathing attitudes regarding your own bodies and their natural functions to yourselves.

That was when? About 25000 BC? (I'm talking about what people actually do - including Christian fundies who have an abysmal marriage record - not what they publicly claim they believe people ought to do).

Uh, gay people will get married?
The only short and long term effects are
1. People can marry the person they love
2. Homophobes will still be homophobes (unless they change and support LGBT)
@Senomaros
You do realize that pie chart shows a bit of Armageddon as a consequence of making marriage independent from gender, right?
Also, if you're complaining about decriminalizing kids having sex, I assume you support recent legislation in my state which says 2 non-intoxicated teenagers (of the same age, who both want to have sex with each other, and tell each other that) having sex with each other somehow both manage to commit statutory rape? Because I kind of think that law needs to go back to being what it was, but I guess you'd complain about that.
Sex with animals seems to be already legal in many states, as long as they're not mammals. (This is not legal advice, they'd probably still find some way to prosecute someone who had sex with a fish.)
Also, if a husband and a wife have sex, and the wife becomes pregnant, but then miscarries, is that sex retroactively non-procreative and therefore unacceptable?
Oh noes! Teh ebbil gheys'll cause th' APOCOLIPS! Also, it shocks me that these idiots still rail against pedophilia even though many of the higher-ranked members keep fucking kids.
@NoncompliAut
What about whales? Yeah they're mammals but they're sea mammals. Do they count?

*looks again and squints*
Well, it appears you're right. I originally made the post in the morning when it was bright and sunny out and the sun was shining right on my screen, so I missed that. That's kinda embarrassing. I went back and fixed it.
Also, I hope your second paragraph isn't directed towards me as well (it's not really clear); I don't know how you would have gotten to that from my post mocking the religious right for their hypocrisy if it is directed toward me.

I know, it started in 1967 when we allowed niggers to marry white women.
There have been ongoing efforts to combat child pornography and other forms of sexual abuse towards children, and public support for pedophilia is extremely unlikely to turn, whereas opinions of homosexuality have become more accepting through time. Perhaps you should question why this is the case, and you'll see why this slippery slope is false.
You know, I've less problem with this kind of fundy's oppinion, just it's expression.
If they would simply keep insisting that sex is only for procreation, they could just be dismissed as a prude and the rest of us wouldn't be so upset by them.
You know, we've had gay people in this country forever, and yet our country hasn't yet "slid toward futher debauchery" by allowing sex with animals or children. Allowing people who are already in committed relationships to have a piece of paper from the state legitimizing said relationship won't change that one bit.
It's like these idiots really do believe that if gay marriage is kept illegal, nobody will be gay or have gay sex.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
