Oh and I'd like to add that I lol that the U.S was not founded on Christianity. Nearly all the original U.S. leaders were Christian. Christianity was originally taught in public schools. The pledge of allegiance mentions God. You don't have to agree with the original leaders to admit that they founded the U.S. on Christianity.

And blacks were originally slaves. Just because we did something in the past does not make it right.

The pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892. The original pledge was: 'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.'

Under god was not added in until 1954.

Yeah...but it wasn't nearly as much of an influence on them as you would like to insinuate. Their mere membership in your group is not proof that that group is the sole cause of their opinions (especially, you know, when the principles that they agreed upon do not derive logically from the principles of that group...)

Which, of course, does not suggest that Christianity is the foundation of our government. It just suggests that most people who lived in the country were (drumroll please) Christian. Oh, and that the government has a spotty record when it comes to setting school standards and keeping church and state separate.

The Pledge didn't even exist until a hundred years after the founding of the country. The "under God" wasn't added until the anti-communist hysteria of the 1950's.

* in the old days, left handed kids were forced to write with their right hands to "break" them of the habit. As all fundies know, left-handedness, like homosexuality, is a life-style choice, not in-bred.

The bible was used to teach in schools because it was the only book they could be confident there was a copy at home so the students could do homework.
They didn’t ‘teach’ Xianity except by coincidence.

The Pledge was not a product of the Founding Fathers. They’d probably be against coerced allegience, anyway.
And it’s been edited twice. ‘Indivisible’ added after the civil war, and ‘under god’ added during teh cold war.
