yes after we freed it with our Christian values
the japanese did not have a word for freedom or understand concept from Shinto principles
also most Americans would be dissapointed at their version of freedom

How the fuck is ‘freedom’ a Christain value?
Those are the chucklefucks trying to shut down free speech in a zillion ways.
Those apes don’t think Freedom of Religion applies to any other religions.
These are the fuckers that figure the state knows more than your doctor about your pregnancy.
God says lying is an abomination but our constitution preserves the freedom to do so.
They only conceive of ‘freedom’ as a form of agreeing with them.
…and think the Founding Deists were among them.

I think most fundies define “Freedom” more as “freedom from choice” rather than “freedom of choice”. If that makes sense. They want the freedom not to have to think for themselves and just want God (or whoever claims to speak for god) to tell them what to do. And anyone who opposes that is obviously enroaching upon said “freedom from choice” and has to be eliminated.
Then again… They want the freedom to be slaves to their religion & beliefs but simultaniously it HAS to be everything they specifically want to believe in. So, they want to be free so they can become slaves to what they want to be and that’ll make them free to be slaves and… My thinker hurts.

Freedom from choice makes a lot of sense. Like that coffee aisle scene in ‘Moscow On The Hudson.’ A Russian immigrant faced with the choices of one aisle of a supermarket, has a nervous breakdown. They haven’t the time, resources, or inclination to compare and contrast various ideologies, so they like being presented with THE one, the one that’s correct and complete, and everything you’ll ever need.
And imagine themselves as Braveheart, facing the slings and arrows of a narrow hallway to a single door.
Confused?
