So these goofs have the magic power to cure Ebola, but they won't be going to Africa until they get orders from the Big Goon in the Sky? Gutless wonders! Doctors Without Borders somehow managed to drag their asses over to Africa, risking their lives, all without orders from the Holy Big Shot. Personally, those folks will get every Penny I have before I give the churchy dickwads a dime.

Oh, and you are aware Ebola was discovered during an outbreak in 1976, which means -yes!- it evolved from a fairly benign virus affecting bats until it turned into a deadly human killer! Which is the down-side of evolution, like antibiotic-resistant TB.

I belong to a large charismatic congregation where spiritual gifts, including healing, are practiced. I do not have the spiritual gift of healing (my gift is prophetic ministry), but I know people who do and I have seen God work through them many times. It is not about having "powers" - that is magic. We believe God works through the person, using the person as a conduit for his own power. This means that the gift does not depend on the person's will - it is up to God to act through them in a particular situation. When and if God wants to send a large group of people to Liberia, he will work through them to accomplish his purpose - and how do you know he is not already doing this?

My church is holding an around-the-clock prayer vigil for the Ebola victims. This means there is literally someone in our prayer chapel every hour of the day (we work in shifts). How much worse might the situation be if people of faith were not taking it to God in prayer and making intercession for those with Ebola?

Oooh!, yes, yes, please tell us how superior you and your congregation are because you claim to be "praying". Are you praying really hard like Pat Robertson, with the same stupid pained squint on your faces? I'm sure the pain of those suffering is assuaged when they hear you're doing nothing 24 hours a day and thinking you're actually helping, while flogging the rest of us over the head with just how saintly, righteous, and concerned doing that nothing actually makes you. Perhaps you should build a giant sign on the moon that would tell the entire world just how much you pray, how holy and pious you are, and how much better than everyone else that makes you. I'm sure those suffering would want you to build this giant graven image telling the world how holy you are rather than using resources to help them in a way that helps relieve their pain. Didn't Jeebus say you should run around telling everyone about how much you pray? Oh, wait, no, he didn't; in fact your book says he said the exact opposite.

How much better might the situation for those with Ebola be if an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent god that actually gave a shit actually existed?

Strangely enough, christianity is international and there are plenty of pious faithful in Africa. So why isn't God using them as conduits? Why is he keeping his reserve line safe across the ocean, far far away? Where are all the African healers? I mean, Africa's the continent that's opposing homosexuals as best they can, so God must realy love them.

But no, apparently God only uses overweight white Americans with Southern accents as healers. I suppose they're the better christians, seeing they speak English as a first language, use the King James Bible, aren't all "wierd like" like those strange foreigners, especially the darker ones.

The disease is there because they eat anything and everything they can find, including bats. Bats carry the disease, but are immune to it.
It's "effecting" them because it's an infectious disease.
Some are immune, and the ones who live through the disease become immune, so evolution IS true.
It's a fairly new disease, numbskull! You have to contract it and survive to become immune.

We have barely changed at all during that very short time, silly. We are taller now than then, perhaps.
There is no de-evolving, as there is no ladder, no goal (except survival long enough to procreate), there is only change.

A) Making their 'abilities' subject to stringent independent laboratory testing, then subject to Peer Review would blow apart the 'Faith' aspect of such - and thus destroy Christainity - as secular medical science would know the exact nature, mechanisms & processes at work (right down to precise diagrams, chemical formulae, equations etc) and thus duplicate this 'Faith Healing', only without the 'Faith' or 'God'.

You guys are utterly heartless. Even if you disagree with me, at least I am doing something for those suffering with Ebola. I was in the prayer chapel for five hours on Sunday, with a 103 degree fever and a horrible flu, because I care about those people and it was my job to hold the vigil until the next person came in to pray. What are you doing? Running your mouth on an internet forum?

I attend a predominantly African-American Church, so Ebola is an issue of huge concern for us, as it effects mostly people of color. We not only offering prayer, we are also sending money and aid to countries stricken with Ebola. Many of us are fasting for a cure. What are you doing? Squatting around on a forum verbally pissing in the wind?

Troll 4 life is liar. She has done absolutely nothing for anyone, at any time. She goes to her church to ease her guilt & to make herself feel important. She also thinks it gives her ammo to use to against anyone that isn't a member of her backwoods, snake-handlin' church that has yet to make the news.

If you really want to help those afflicted, you'll get your lying, hypocritical ass to Sierra Leone. But you won't do that.
