Sandy Rios, a Fox News contributor and American Family Association radio talk show host today on her AFR radio show compared the love two gay men feel for each other to the “love” kidnapper, rapist, and murderer Ariel Castro felt for the women he kept captive as slaves in his home.

Rios was speaking with Chicago pastor Erwin Lutzer, who insisted that pedophiles also “love” the children they rape.

Lutzer also claimed that same-sex marriage leads to the destruction of the family and “confusion” for children.

I'd rather compare the love two gay men (or women) feel for each other, to the love me and my husband feel for each other. I would be a bit apprehensive to do that comparison, though, as feelings are individual.

Castro felt ownership, rather than love, I guess. Attraction is not the same as love. You can be attracted to someone without loving them, and you can love someone without being attracted to them. Castro’s victims were dependent on him, and over the years they developed a kind of “love” for him, as the center of their world.

Sure, pedophiles might "love" their victims. The difference is that with two gay men or women, there is no victim nor predator, but two consenting adults sharing (more or less) equal feelings.

Children are less confused than adults, in general. They accept things around them as natural, and don't complicate stuff. Same-sex marriage creates a family, it doesn't destroy a family. Divorce might destroy a family, though, and it will definitely confuse children, at least initially. People in the Bible Belt are fairly prone to divorce, I hear...

Now that's reaching of the most pathetic kind imaginable.

I seem to remember a certain Pat Robertson blaming 9/11 on homosexuality - especially in such a 'liberal' city as New York - thus your 'God' punishing it for it's 'Sodom & Gomorrah'-esque sins in that way.

Keep adding more loops to the perpetual crazy traincrash of P.R. FAIL via everything you say/do/think/'believe', o Religious Reich. Everything you say simply adds more years to your GOP not going to the White House in the future; the Democrats don't have to do anything: you are their best asset, campaign-wise. Keep making those quotes, they'll add such to their arsenal.

It's all about two words, Teabaggers/Religious Reich/GOP: Demographics. Perception.

I'm not sure fundies do have a concept of a mutual, equal relationship. At home, it's one where the husband and father is the ruler of the household and all are subordinate. In church, it's one where they defer to their elders or pastors. In the world at large, it's one where they see themselves as a persecuted minority who are spiritually marked out for salvation while the rest of us suffer the torment of hell. For fundies, life is supposed to be hierarchical and nobody could possibly disagree unless they were forced or under the influence of Satan.

One cannot help thinking that the "love" pedophiles have for their victims is not a million miles from the "love" that fundies feel to LBGT people.

'Consent', never mind Informed. That's one word that fundies daren't allow into their lexicon. Because then, they'd have to consider getting the consent of others beforehand, in so much as asking other peoples' permission to invade their personal space and/or interrupt them, so as to 'proseltyse' to them.

'Consent'. That word is lethal to right-wing fundies. And not just in terms of annihilating one source of righteous indignation for them, so as they can justify their sad little existences, otherwise; as if they losing it* post-SCOTUS ruling on DOMA wasn't enough.
