The reason not to use "cis" is that it was developed as a specific form of propaganda by transgender activists on Usenet in the 90s.
Yep, this.
EDIT: Also (and this is really the same point), because They want to force you to use it, to insist you use it, to punish you for not using it. That is reason enough not to use it!

“Cisgender” (or “cis” for short) was orignially as an outgroup label, but in the decades since then, it’s also become a clinical gender-related category, and is even used by some people as an identity label. If it’s a form of “propaganda”, then it’s both unintentional and highly successful. (Is intentionality necessary for something to be propaganda?) Outgroup labels (usually) aren’t meant to be used outside of ingroup discussion, and when widely used that way it sometimes becomes a slur, though not always. That didn’t happen here.
I have noticed that the people who are the most uncomfortable with outgroup labels which apply to them are usually the same ones who have no issues with using slurs against other people (because other people are not them). Or at least their only issue is that they’d get shunned by polite company for using them.
I think I’ve said this before more than a few times, but “cis” and “trans” are perfectly legit prefixes that mean exactly what we’re using them for in the case of gender. “Cis” means “on the same side of” while “trans” means “on the other side of”. The Romans called Gaul on their side of the Alps “Cisalpine Gaul” while Gaul on the other side of the Alps was “Transalpine Gaul”. (though they would have used the Latin equivalent of those phrases of course)

I remember reading a science fiction story in the 70’s that talked about two different authorities for space travel, one being in charge of cislunar operations (satellites, space stations, shuttle travel between those destinations) and a translunar authority for trips to various bases on the moon and anything beyond Luna.
It’s not from the 90s you perpetually offended loon.
Propaganda, is it? You must be a real Latin scholar then, as others have pointed out. Transylvania means “across the forest”, which I guess it was from Rome.

Who are "They"? All the people you meet who aren't prejudiced?
Confused?
