What that he doesn't hate Trans people enough? So this is a case of evil vs evil? I figured he would like TERFs and want to work with them.
Nah, it’s more an issue of their non-trans-related views from what I’ve seen. Many TERFs know that conservatives want to take away their rights as well, and don’t really trust them as a result. Their alliance with conservatives, when it exists, is a matter of strategy, rather than any sort of mutual appreciation. TERFs* and conservatives see each other as useful tools, and are willing to discard and turn on each other when they’re done with the trans people.
*Note: I’m referring to actual ‘classic’ TERFs who tend to have at least somewhat progressive general views that are overshadowed and warped by their huge transphobia, rather than conservatives and Nazis who basically just cosplay as and appeal to “radical feminists” when useful (Abigail Shrier and Posie Parker might be good examples of the latter).
I find it weird that someone like Matt Walsh would even accept that someone could be a feminist and hate trans people. That seems to be something the conservative mind can't wrap its head around.
Don’t underestimate hard conservatives, especially activist ones like Matt Walsh. He is not some MAGA hat Joe Bubba who can barely string a sentence together; Walsh is an intelligent, competent and evil troll who knows what he’s doing. He is perfectly capable of understanding the nuances of feminism, trans topics etc.; after all, doing so would make him more effective at fighting, mocking and demolishing those things.
We need to stop thinking that conservatives tend to be dumb, uninformed and barely capable of intelligent thought. Sure, some are like that, but there are plenty of conservatives and even fascists who do understand the issues and are capable of nuanced thought; they might just disagree with you, consider your views dangerous, may even hate your guts and want you gone (or at least kept firmly under their boot).
