It's not just because of my villainous anti-SJW side here that I've come to despise the archetypical feminist icon constantly cropping up in my 'entertainment'.

I didn't care about Elizabeth from BioShock Infinite. I didn't care about whats-her-name from The Last of Us. I don't care about pandering ANYTHING that doesn't follow the rules, and making a character fundamentally without flaws makes them BORING. At least for someone like me who doesn't enjoy characters I'm told to enjoy because it's good for me.

You care just enough to write a post bitching about how much you don't care.

A character being female or a minority isn’t a flaw. The entertainment business is already pandering to a certain demographic, why is it bad when they pander to other demographics as well?

I can’t say anything about the characters at all from Last of Us, but is he trying to say Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite is being presented as a “flawless” character? Because she’s most definitely not presented that way. She is admittedly presented as her flaws resulting from the effects of other much more heavily flawed people, yes, but she has her own particular blind spots too, even if as a result of having been kept an isolated prisoner all her life.

I wonder if what he really has a problem with for Bioshock Infinite (and in fact the entire Bioshock franchise) is it’s not so flattering outlook on Randian Objectivist ideology and the effects of it actually in action.

I wonder what lordgreenear4 would think of this?

Slidenado - Lesbian Sliders

Two lesbian couples go on an RV holiday together, summer of 2019.

When they at one point are camping out in the woods, they are hit by a strange-looking tornado. (“I never saw any blue-ink colored tornado funnel clouds before!!”) Later, they discover they’ve been transferred to a parallel world. And this happens over and over.

As soon as they have moved far enough away from where they arrived in the world they’re currently in, a new ‘slidenado’ appears in that spot and comes after them. When that slidenado comes close enough to them - 100x funnel cloud diameter, which is approx. 100 feet - they are zapped into another world.

They visit one world after another, including worlds where:

- left-handers are roughly 90% of the population, meaning to our sliders writing looks mirrored and driving on the left is the global rule.
- the closer people are to Kinsey 3, bi with no gender preference, the more intelligent they are. Our sliders have to go into hiding when
the authorities discover they are intelligent enough to drive while ‘monosexual’.
- the Earth spins the other way around its axis, making the sliders perceive the sun as rising in the west and setting in the east.
- being trans comes with being Hulk mutated. At one point, they witness a non-op trans woman hulk out to a She-Hulk.

Are they really written without flaws, or do you just not bother to spend five minutes analyzing their character because they've got tits and that means you hate them? I can't say anything about Ellie from TLoU since I haven't played that yet, but Elizabeth was definitely not written without flaws. She was introduced as a strong-willed character, but so sheltered and naive that she doesn't recognize the blatant racism in Columbia at first. She clearly carries some rage that we are shown might easily send her down a horrifying path. She has flaws and internal conflicts, the fact that she's powerful as hell doesn't negate that.

Ah. Odd that you don’t list any male feminist characters… I suspect that your actual problem is that the characters that piss you off don’t fit YOUR stereotypes. Any woman that isn’t a helpless dependent kittne is ‘without flaws.’
Well, maybe you can find a kickstarter for a game where you go around clubbing cavewomen on the head and dragging them back to your cave.

So I can’t comment on the characters from “The last of us”, but calling elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite a “flawless, boring” character really bugs me, because she actually has a well written, well done character arc with actual development, starting as incredible naive/innocent from her incredible sheltered upbringing and matureing past that over the course of the story (with the naivite actually leading to some decisions that do have negative repurcussions for her). if anything, I would consider her a golod example of a powerfull character done right.
