That's closer to intersex, Grim. In this case, transsexual children (such as the ones in question by the group) are like any other transsexual age group - only they have the support needed to go on hormone blockers that prevent puberty in order to preserve the choice until they are no longer minors. Corrective surgery on infants was abandoned after David Remier, and anything like SRS is illegal on minors for good reasons. Basically, all it is is not forcing the transgender girl or boy to suffer watching their body transform into the wrong sex (which has been shown to be psychologically damaging) when puberty hits. That way, when they hit the age of consent, they can go off the blockers and on the hormones for the correct gender without needing to fight or reverse things like testosterone exposure (i.e. lower voice, facial hair, skeletal changes, etc.)

Then the Honest Girl Scout Website isn't being very honest at all. Accepting a transgendered person has nothing to do with abortion at all.
As a former Girl Scout leader, I can emphatically say wrong on all counts. If anything, they are more closely aligned with Christian values tempered with a good dose of female empowerment. Never have I seen any promotion of abortion. Cookie money is used to fund troop activities and events.
So now the byline is "honesty." The homophobes couldn't rally people to their side using the jingo of "decency" anymore. Too many people realized that there is nothing "decent" about bigotry, so they switched to promoting themselves as the voice of honesty.
Of course, sooner or later it will become obvious that their attempts to grab the spotlight by pretending to protect children isn't especially honest either, but I suspect that they will enjoy the ride until then.
I can't believe even the girl scouts have been infected with this politicised, exaggerated, stereotyping nonsense. (Although I know it's not the girls themselves, but some self-appointed moral guardian who has decided to set themselves up as a spokesman.)

Right to be oneself in terms of gender/sexual identity even at a young age =/= kids having sex.

"Sexual rights for children" don't include lowering the age of consent or any kind of abuse, just allowing medical access to girls with primitive parents.
As a Genderqueer person that grew up not know what the hell was going on with myself, I really understand this kid. She wants to be like other girls. That's awesome and more power to her. What I don't understand is why some people insist that she can't. What has this little girl done that suggests she'd actually hurt anyone?
What a incredible bullshit. I have been a boy scout for 10 years and we have some children who are gay (although they don't know the concept yet) and one boy I know who probably will become a woman one day. So what, They are who they are, respect that

Reactionaries always have it in for the Girl Scouts, who teach girls (gasp) skills, achievements, egalitarianism, and self- worth. Half a century ago, Joe McCarthy labelled them Communists. In these dirtier-minded times, people with kiddyporn minds are calling them perverts.

The rest of the website is a long list of Girl Scout troops and councils they reject for various reasons. It's a long list and looks like it includes a large majority of all Girl Scouts.
So, their motto should actually be:
"... be a sister to every Girl Scout, except most of them."

Oh no. Heaven forbid someone join the scouts who is not One Of Us, and who may even Not Think Like Us. An Individual, someone with New Ideas. Intolerable. How can we cope with such a disgrace to Our Way Of Thinking? Clearly the only solution lies in a brutal, Salem-esque ostracizing of this poor child. Thus will the status quo be maintained. I just don't get the message, how can a trasgender child abort, if they can't get pregnant in the first place?. Ok, so, they accept somebody you don't like and now it's time to move out. Wonder what we can hope when black girls or muslim girls are accepted.
Had I been aware of this story before putting in my order, I'd have asked for SIX boxes of cookies. Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Savannah Smiles rock, and they don't demand that you grovel to some outdated concept of gender identity.
The girl is honest with who she is. The Girl Scouts accept and support her, so they are squarely in the pro-honesty camp. Honestgirlscouts.com, OTOH, makes claims of worse than questionnable honesty..

What if they grow up and realize they made a mistake and regret the hormone blockers?
It's one thing to let adults make their own decisions for their bodies, including any body modifications but you wouldn't let a child that young get a tattoo you shouldn't let them make such a major decision as sexual reassignment.

I know this is old, but I must point out that hormone blockers cause no permanent changes. They just stop puberty changes from happening. If they stop taking them, puberty kicks in again and development progresses as normal.
The reason they are on hormone blockers is so that they don't grow into the wrong gender until they are no longer minors and can make their own decisions about treatment.
