Remember nuclear winter? Of course you don’t. That’s because it didn’t happen. Yet it was all the rage on the Left in the 1980s. A generation from now, no one will recall climate change either, and for the same reason. The apocalypse has become a political racket!

IF WE DON’T ACT TO REDUCE CLIMATE CHANGE, then yes, a generation from now, no-one will recall climate change, as humans will be extinct.
The apocalypse WAS a political racket when the cold war threatened to bring forth WWIII and a nuclear winter. Then Soviet fell and the cold war ended. Now, with the Orange Clown at the helm, the US of A might fall too, and leave the dictators of the world free to start that nuclear winter by killing each other’s people. In 10 000 years, when the world might again be habitable, their offspring, brought up in fallout shelters below ground, will be able to repopulate the earth.

And here we are and the ozon layer is fine!’
Yes to all of that because in both cases politicians actually stood up and DID SOMETHING about it, not because the predictions were wrong! You can’t use a successful prevention of a catastrophe as an argument that another one can’t possibly happen, that’s willful ignorance on a whole new level!
Of course, I remember when the U.S., Soviet Union and China fired off all their nukes at the same time. Exterminated life on Earth, I believe.

Remember the Red Scare? Of course you don’t. But right wingers used to see communists under every bed and around every corner. We had emergncy tests on the radio: “this is a test of the emergency broadcast system”. The Soviet Union was about to attack at any minute, nuclear rockets everywhere. It was all the rage on the Right in the 1960s. The apocalypse was a political racket.
What happened? Oh right: nothing.
Nuclear winter was slated to happen if a nuclear war occured.
Since no nuclear war happened, no nuclear winter happened too.

Somehow, I think that if he lived today, JFK would say the same thing about climate change. The reason there was no nuclear winter, was because lots of people, including him during the Cuban Missile Crisis, made sure there was no NUCLEAR WAR. When are we going to do the same about pollution by fossil fuels?
Nuclear winter is one of the reasons why nobody would seriously consider using nukes on each other and why we have so many treaties and precautions around them. That's why it never happened.
Climate change has been a concern since the 70s apparently. Joe Biden was one of the first to pass legislation on it.

A truly massive number of international treaties concerning it, limiting it, allowing enemies to inspect each other’s facilities, transparency? Okay, let’s do that.
