According to a YouGov poll, Sir Keir Starmer's Labour are 33 points ahead of the Conservatives: certainly since a certain 'Mini Budget' which immediately caused massive damage.

In nary a month, Liz Surgical Truss has (mis)managed to do far worse than Bozo the Now Dead Clown did in 2.5 years.

There are already stirrings of more than just a 'Winter of Discontent': and not just with strikes a la those which ultimately did for Jim Callaghan in the mid-late 1970s, but within a certain political party: and - unlike that in the mid-late 1970s - it's not Labour, whose leader will make his a Glorious Summer.

Concerning that ultra-concerning 'Mini Budget' which caused the massive damage the Conservatives are experiencing nary a day into their annual conference - soon after Labour's triumphant one last week - guess who Liz Surgical Truss has thrown under the bus for causing said post-Budget damage: and guess II who appointed the Chancellor of the Exchequer who commended said Budget to the House...?!

The song is BS then. There won’t always be an England, any more than there will always be a United States of America, or a Canada, or a Mexico, or a North Korea, or whatever. We might not be around to see it in our lives, but all countries eventually fall, and for that matter, everything does. Countries, planets, solar systems, galaxies, universes, etc.

You're right, of course it's a question of time and it's not necessarily a fatalist view. Meanwhile the wise usually hope for peace and stability, but as we see, there's people working for the exact opposite.
