And when this happens, the men, sick of being stifled, move onto a new wilderness, a new business, a new venture. There is no female Elon Must in all of history, no female Einstein, no female Thomas Edison, or Thomas Aquinas, nor Christopher Columbus, Alexander the Great, Richard the Lionheart or Sir Edmund Hillary.
On the other hand, there very much is a female Florence Nightingale, as well as Mother Theresa of Calcutta, Mother Angelica of EWTN, as well as St. Catherine of Siena and St. Catherine of Alexandria, not to mention a female St. Mary, Mother of God.
But once the men conquer the wilderness, we need women to civilize us. Men without women live like bears on futons with dirty laundry piled nearby, eating cold leftover pizza, and with empty beer cans in the fridge.
We have seen what men act like in civilizations which lack the female touch: in olden days, in China and Turkey, where men had many wives and concubines, and women were chattel, the civilizations were legendary in their love of conquest and cruelty and barbarism.
Military bases or (in olden days) universities where large numbers of unmarried males were gathered were Spartan or Corinthian in their spirit, either ruled by strict discipline, or famous for their dissipations.
Modern universities, now co-ed, have lost that character, but also lost any intellectual freedom, danger, zeal or zest that accompanies intellectual frontiersman.
