can i just say like telling people not to smoke or drink alcohol while they’re pregnant is ableist and classist as fuck and it needs to stop

first off the majority of smokers/substance abusers are from disadvantaged and poor backgrounds or are struggling with mental health issues and they use it as a coping method so to tell them theyre a bad person for doing that is both classist and ableist

the main argument against it is that your child will come out disabled but honestly if that happens so what??? whats wrong with that??? this whole mindset has deep fucking roots in ableist thought process and im fucking sick of it. like. why do you hate people with disabilities lol

I doubt that the OP actually believes what they’re saying. But the fact that they say it “as satire” means that they are trying to discredit disability advocates. Which is itself worthy of ridicule.

So, OP, how about you stop using English to publish these posts? It’s colonialist, after all, and if you switch to a language with fewer speakers (stay away from Chinese, which is also rooted in an empire) then fewer people will be able to read your nonsense.

The child WILL come out disabled if mommy-to-be drinks or smokes? It’s not as simple as that, dearie.
Malnourishment in mom-to-be can also be detrimental to the fetus.
One shouldn’t tell pregnant women that they are bad, one should help them to quit smoking and drinking, and to get proper nutrition.

We don’t hate people with disabilities, we just recognize that disabilities make life a bit harder, and life can be hard enough as it is, so we want to keep as many people from having disabilities as possible, and make unavoidable disabilities as manageable as possible.

I don't hate people with disabilities, but I do hate to see a baby born without a brain. While not precisely common, heavy willing, drinking, and drug use is connected with an increase in ancephaletic births.

*you pro-force-birth fuckers do not get to use it, my mother was hyped up on some heavy hormonal crap during her pregnancy, fearful of the chernobyl meltdown as all were in those times. Long story short, my chasis was originally that of a cis gal. My very own parental unit has fucked it up beyond recognition, by taking hormonal meds, that were apparently designed to stop her(and by extension me in the womb) from getting radiation poisoning.

OTOH, telling someone about better ways to cope with mental health issues or poverty might be a better option than enabling whom is essentially an addict.

some people? give their children irreversible birth defects which will materially worsen their lives? to cope?
