Sage was taken to the ER for treatment and sent to a detention center. Why? She had no criminal charges. I was called by the FBI to come and get Sage and take her back to Virginia. However, upon my arrival I was told my granddaughter would not be allowed to return to Virginia. Sage was now being represented by a juvenile attorney and my husband and I were going to be investigated for "abuse" because my husband and I called her Sage and not Draco. Sage now identified as a boy and the judge demanded we use the “he/him” pronoun and call her Draco. Sage was being represented by an attorney whose actions from the beginning were unethical and unprofessional.

Abuse charges were filed against my husband and myself and Draco was put in the Children’s Home

That is your version of events. I wonder what Draco has to say about it? To listen to their version of events would be more than a little sagacious.

When it comes to Sage, the authorities clearly know their onions.

I did a quick check but found a mess of transphobia, and it’s mostly just repeating what his parents and grandmother said about the situation. It seems like most of the details of what happened aren’t available to the public, so their side of it goes mostly unchallenged - even the 2018 NBC News article deadnames and misgenders him, apparently not knowing that he was trans.

What little I can find: He ran away from home at age 14 in 2016 with his boyfriend, was found in 2018 when the above stuff was written, ran away again at some point, and was found again in 2021 but due to being age 19 he couldn’t be forced to return home.

Let me guess. There's more to this story than what you're telling us.

Something tells me there us much more to this story than you’re telling us. The fact that you keep deadnaming your grandchild is a dead (heh) giveaway.

Seriously, even IF you have trouble understanding transgenderism (due to ignorance or just being from a different time), you’re still deliberately misnaming your own grandson. No matter how you look at it, that’s just malicious and borderline abusive.

Sounds like you didn’t recognize that your kid was trans. Sounds like crappy parenting to me.

Or you weren’t allowed to force him to go?

See Zinnia’s post above, she found what it is. And indeed, it’s that OP wasn’t allowed to force the trans man to go with them.

Great! Maybe now Draco will have a chance to lead a fairly normal life, free from his abusive parents and grandparents.

First sentence makes me think attempted suicide.

Also, who names their kid Sage?

Sage’s gender identity should not even have been addressed It certainly was not in her best interest at all.

Draco's gender identity seems to be at the center of this story, and if you and your husband can't accept that, the state has the obligation to protect your son from you.

I am just one small voice for 1000’s of these children that our society is endangering by passing laws that give them more rights than the parent.

Children should have just as many rights as adults, especially when it comes to their safety, health, and happiness. Parents don't "own" their children, no matter what happens.

I notice that this mother blames everyone else for her son's actions with no apparent concern for how her actions and those of her husband contributed to Draco's decision to run away--twice!
