Burma, aka Myanmar, has basically been under a military junta since 1962. Is that who you want to be like?

The Tatmadaw wasn’t concerned with the integrity of the electoral system but with retaining the power and the wealth they have robbed since 1962. Mirabeau said Prussia was an army with a state but Myanmar is the next step, where the military doesn’t give any fuck about the larger society and think the nation exists to serve them.

They went beyond mere deep state since, before the coup, they nominated three key ministries, 25% of the seat in legislative assemblies and were able to declare martial law all by themselves.

A coup was not even remotely close to happening in the US. Military leaders seemed largely disgusted that the possibility was brought up.
