Is Rachel on Ryall's speed dial? How did he find her? Why must the Japanese listen to a random black American's complaints about her hard life in Japan? If Japan is so bad, why did she stay most of her life?

She isn’t even a hafuu, half-Japanese, half alien, like the girl in the advertisement. She’s “African-American.” She should be content to live in a safe and orderly Japan. She might otherwise have been living in Chicago or Baltimore, and become a victim of her fellow blacks due to the Floyd Effect.

Ryall’s claim of Japanese “racism” against Koreans is somewhat curious. The two peoples are the same East Asian phenotype. Japan’s first settlers came from the Korean peninsula. While modern Koreans differ from the Japanese because of their deeper epicanthic fold, the difference is often imperceptible. Yet Ryall deploys all the buzzwords of the modern anti-racist. Maybe Ryall should visit South Korea to see racism in action [In Korea, double standards on racism, by Da-Sol Goh, Asia Times, March 24, 2020]. (Not that the two Koreas are any more obligated to import blacks or Muslims than Japan is).

I'd say the difference between the English and the Irish is just as imperceptible, and we all know there's never been any bad blood between those peoples, right?

There was a certain group of racists in Germany some while ago known as the Nazis (you may have heard of them), whose primary targets for racism were Ashkenazim, the Polish and the Eastern Slavs, who look exactly like ordinary Germans - and in fact, the first two are mostly the same safe for their religion and their language respectively. Why do you think the Nazis demanded extensive genealogical documentation before one could be accepted as German, let alone join the SS, and forced the Jews to wear yellow hexagrams?

You know, this “Xphobia can’t be racism, X are not a (different) race!” canard feels like an attempt to subtly revalidate racism by denying its fundamentally irrational and arbitrary nature (well, it probably often actually is a really that pathetic attempt at semantic deflection that shows that the speaker does not recognise xenophobia in general as a bad thing, considering some of the incredibly and unambigiously bigoted stuff I have seen here completely unironically prefaced with “I am not racist/sexist/homophobic/…, but…”). Arseholes will create themselves Others they can use as scapegoats, projections of their own self-loathing, victims, bogeymen to scare people into handing them power and accept their atrocities, because they are arseholes. Yes, that Other actually looking different from the main population is certainly convenient, but far from necessary.

You know, racism also exists between cultures (see how Irish were hated in the USA, how Italians were victims of pogroms in France and lynching in Louisiana and how Jews were persecuted across Europe).
