Intelligent design vs. evolution has been the two main theories of life for centuries, and the Cambrian explosion favors ID, so another point for ID.

“Intelligent design vs. evolution has been the two main theories of life for centuries,”
Oh, bullshit.
Intelligent Design was a reaction to creationism being thrown out of schools, and evolution being taught. About 1960 or so? So, not even 70 years. And it’s been shown in court to be creationism in disguise. So, you’re either lying or ignorant.
"and the Cambrian explosion favors ID,”
The ‘explosion’ took 30 million years. How does that support a designer?
“so another point for ID.”
Not until you explain how it favors ID, AND what the hell the other point was.
Failing history, not only on the universe, the earth and of life, but also of creationist human traditions. How surprising. If you check it out, you'll see that ID is a movement derived from "Creation Science" (not science), a protestant cult. There was a "universalization" attempt where the propaganda material attempted to substitute all references to the Christian deity. And the additions of a few pseudoscientific creationist authors (i.e. adding the untenable pseudoscientific religious arguments of Specified Complexity, Irreducible Complexity)... So ID itself is a rather late movement, mostly from the 1980s. If you mean that there were creationists before that, sure. There also were "flood geologists" in the 1800s who attempted to reconcile a flood myth and the existence of fossils. However, that too was a reactionary movement specific to abrahamic religion in an area. But the discoveries of ideology-untainted science continue, despite anti-science and pseudoscientific movements.
I will grant that you could make an argument that so long as theists have accepted evolution there have been people who believed their god guided evolution.
Intelligent Design isn't that though. As it is practiced, especially in the US, it is a nothing system that tries to rebrand creationism (as discussed above) that offers no models, no predictive properties, no explanatory power, no useful information, and is spread by lies and misinformation.
You'd think that the religious crowd would have more reservations about bearing false witnesses, what with a big commandment about it.
Intelligent design vs. evolution has been the two main theories of life
What exactly is a “theory of life” supposed to mean anyway? A theory of the origin of life, perhaps? Theories about that certainly do exist, but, evolution ain’t one of them. I seriously don’t know why some Christians just utterly fail to understand that. It’s in the damn meaning of the word…evolution means the development of things from one state to another, not how they began.

Intelligent Design Theory, aka "ID theory"
Normal Person's Definition : "Creationism in a clown suit." ID is just creation theory with the word “God” replaced by the more vague term “intelligent designer”. It remains
the same basic idea that has fueled religion since the Stone Age: attribute all mysteries to deities which are conveniently defined in such a manner that no testing or verification
is necessary or even possible.
Fundie Definition : "The theory that God an “intelligent designer” magically created all life." We know this must be true because science does not yet understand
everything in the universe.
Note: the ID movement draws its strength from the idea that if we don't know exactly what a particular species or feature's evolutionary precursors looked like, then there must not have been any , so it must have appeared spontaneously at the will of God.
Confused?
