So if you thought comments from the Biden administration on gas dropping was disconnected from reality oh boy did this libtard get fucking replaced in the smug moron machine. Pete Buttigieg just told all Americans to go buy electric cars. Beside the fact most electric cars are at their lowest price is upwards of $50000 electric cars are generally going to require vast hydro carbon resources to recharge in light of Nuclear power being shut down.
"Some people can't afford an ID to vote!" -- Democrats
"Just buy an electric car!" -- Also Democrats.
In all with this crap is such a BS let them eat cake moment.

Your rebuttal was awesome… as well as those awesome, very affordable car & truck prices! I haven’t seen prices like that since the 1990s.
Thank you, Vladmir Putin, for not only uniting NATO and uniting the world against you but for being the catalyst to making Green Energy and electric vehicles A BIG REGULAR THING!
Finally, nothing is stopping Big Fossil from getting on the green bandwagon. I can picture gas stations around the world replaced with charging stations and the Big Fossil companies working together with energy companies.
We can do it! Let’s demand that Big Fossil, Big Weapon and Big Lumber transition to less destructive stuff! The Fat Cats can still make a big buck bit not at the expense of the planet or other people! It’s a win - win for all. No more war profiteering, global warming denial or other nonsense.
What I ordered some months ago: a 36V 350W 26 inch rear wheel & 36V 13A rear rack-mounted battery electric bike conversion kit for £450 from Amazon: a member of the 'Trillion Dollar Company Club'. Y'know who else is a member of that very select club, OP? Tesla: whose CEO is Elon Musk. Founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos is the richest man on the planet.
Several years ago, Siemens expanded their wind turbine production facility in Hull via a massive investment in such: they are the biggest manufacturers of these generators in Britain, if not all of Europe.
Amazon's warehouse in Tilbury is the biggest in said Trillion Dollar Company to become energy independent via solar cells on the roof of said warehouse.
A certain Conservative PM - referred to as a 'Terrific Guy' by Donald Fart - wants petrol vehicles made illegal by 2030.
When there's serious profit in sustainability, I'm afraid that you can't sustain your 'Opinion', OP.
I mean, there's some truth to this. Lots of people can't just go out and buy an electric car instead, and governments shouldn't act as if that's the only solution. We need better, cheaper public transportation to make it easier for more people to not have cars at all, as a first step.
The thing is, that Pete Buttigieg didn't say people should buy electric cars because gas prices are high. It was in relation to the Build Baxk Better Act about making electric cars more affordable, thus helping to allay fears or concerns about buying gas in general.
It's been spun into a dig of Buttigieg saying "Hurh durr, if gas prices are going up buy an electric car!" because the Right is morally bankrupt and has no qualms about lying.
Democrats also had the idea of giving a credit towards an electric car making it less of a financial burden, something that quietly incentivized buying American because that’s who the major manufacturers of electric cars were. A lot less odious than braying about foreigners “taking your business” that’s for sure, and a much less obvious middle finger to trading partners.
On the flipside Republicans shoot down the suggestion of putting a little more truth to the idea that everyone has ID by issuing ID to every citizen and making sure that unlike expensive drivers licenses that they can’t be confiscated on a whim necessitating a constant cycle of easily stalled replacement. And funny how Republicans want you to believe it’s reasonable to say you need ID to buy groceries let alone vote but proof of vaccination is grounds for armed insurrection. As are background checks for gun purchases.
Edit: Oh and like @Speakeasy said a good way to cut down gas costs, traffic congestion, the oft-overlooked costs of space associated with parking, and additionally improve people’s ability to get to work if they previously had limited travel options is investments into public transportation. But Republicans absolutely despise public anything and are more interested in telling people to get good jobs than making getting those jobs feasible. Well, apart from claims that tax breaks will magic them into existence.

Because being able to confiscate someone’s ID for something as subjective as “manner of walking” is a way to punish and squeeze money from them, provides a pretext for escalation when police want to see ID when making an arrest for “manner of walking” but being told it was already confiscated is “resistance, evasiveness, and belligerence warranting suspicion” and subjectivity lets certain people be targeted without having to say you’re targeting them.
Not for completely racist reasons of course, but race brings an assumption both of suspiciousness that works well to pad an officer’s records if they’re being subjected to quotas (which is illegal but what does that matter these days) and on the more political side of things an assumption of how people will vote along with a panic to drive other people to vote your way.
Confused?
