When the founders put “freedom of religion” in the Constitution they meant freedom within the Christian religion…it never entered their heads that we would allow the plurality of pagan religions in this confederation of states.

More to that, this completely contradicts the fact that in the early US, each state had total control over all religious expression in its own borders. So claiming that religion in this context refers to just Christianity makes no sense. He is trying to read in a false 18th century definition of religon like Bryan Fischer while trying to make the amendment operate as it does in the 21st century. You cant have it both ways Tanner! You cant use 18th century definitions while rejecting how the amendment was acutally applied in the 18th century.
There is a $cientology Org in Belfast. There’s the old joke about several Northern Irish men stopping someone and asking what is their religion. Said person who has just left said Org with their OT-III ‘win’ replies ‘$cientology’. Those men then ask in a more menacing tone ‘Catholic or Protestant $cientology?!’.
We could ask the same about you , OP.
In one part of the Holy Land, the US Constitution exists: but only there. No doubt there are those of the Southern Baptist persuasion among the staff at that US Embassy: along with those who follow the teachings of the Holy See. Meanwhile in another part of Jerusalem, there is an area where if someone so much as sweeps the wrong part of that area, vicious fights break out. And that’s within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre: Christian .
Now you see why even Islam has Tax Exemption: along with $cientology, OP…?!
Question: Is yours not a religion, but ‘A personal relationship with Jesus’? (check one):
[ ] Yes
[ ] No
Choose wisely: for that US Constitution: certainly one section of what it represents - the IRS - won’t help you if you don’t…!
in this confederation of states
Made me think of the Confederacy.
When the founders put “freedom of religion” in the Constitution they meant freedom within the Christian religion…
But that wasn’t the founders of our world’s USA. It was the founders of the USA in the world of Carter Tannwright.
The world where…
…The Terminator was followed only by a TV series about the war against the machines. It ends with Skynet getting destroyed and Kyle Reese sent back to 1984.
…Prince, Michael Jackson and George Michael are still alive.
…the first confirmed case of Covid was registered in Wuhan in 2020, so the disease got named Covid-20.
…Mussolini escaped to South Africa.

Really?! Then it sounds like you need a foreigner to tell you, in an Aussie accent, what your own Treaty of Tripoli says. Not that Islam is a pagan religion, their Shahada is monotheistic.

Then they probably should have written that down somewhere. Might have come back in a Supreme Court decision that way.
As it is, some court decisions for non-mainstream religions, or even non-Christain religions, set precedents enjoyed by other religious groups. For example, if a majority Baptist community has Baptist clubs in the school, they cannot refuse a Catholic club forming and meeting in the school. And the precedent for this freedom was set by a decision about the Satanist Church’s right to form Satanic clubs in churches.
Confused?
