Meh. In a culture that punished apostasy, it’s kinda hard to be sure if any particular individual actually believed or just found it beneficial to act that way.

I wrote the above as a joke but also as example of how superstition can harm. There is no evidence of divine beings and since they never would clearly let us know what they really want (a stupid human justification like yours, "it was successful thus blessed" is false causation). For the very same reason, anyone could get accused of being responsible for something going bad even if they have no personal involvement whatsoever. This type of frivolous attack has been used by deceptors claiming to have access to the divine in some way or another.
It also results in your fallacious claim that if an authoritarian theocracy was imposed on the country, it would somehow magically do better. History knows that it's false, for countries and their citizens. The US would have been unlikely to rise as it did under an oppressive isolated regime. It would not have become the new center of science. Assuming that it had been similar to Saudi Arabia, subsisting with oil, it'd have depended more on foreign technology. Although the US is already not the best example for infrastructure, it would likely suffer even more, with a small "princely" elite in power oppressing the mass... It's also not for no reason that those regimes often need to have a special more modern city, dramatically different and less oppressed than the rest, running much of the economy and innovation with progressive young foreigners.
And of course you're replacing your own country's history by a myth. The founders were actually escaping from European Catholic regimes and had another vision.
Far from being jealous, it was the efforts of intellectuals that created today's world. The Age of Enlightenment paved the way for progress by rejecting religious certainty for human reason and the pursuit of knowledge, and hereditary monarchy for constitutional government.
JLP should be thanking intellectuals rather than any god or god-followers for modern Western Civilization; we got here through human effort, not divine decree.
I know your ideas of what makes Western Civilisation great are… unusual, but even when it came to shipping African slaves to America under horrific conditions to be exploited under slightly less horrible conditions, ultimately leading to you being able to grovel before Massa Trump, faith in God may have helped rationalise such acts, but I am pretty sure intellectuals like cartographers, astronomers, optical physicists, translators, etc. have contributed far more to making this possible.
