“Actually, if you think about it, there is a lot of hypocrisy yaoi fandom, as the characters they subject their fetishes to are usually STRAIGHT, NOT GAY!”
A lot of fanfiction seems to be written by girls who think that a loving relationship is the ultimate form of happiness. So they tie their two favorite characters together, no matter the sex or sexuality involved.
It’s not hypocrisy, it’s their idea of romance.
Or, I have seen fanfic examinations of straight characters who have unresolved issues. I think it quite likely that the reason NCIS’s Gibbs has had so many divorces might be that he’s ultimately gay. And maybe homosexuality is why DiNozzo is over-achieving in the player role. Such stories aren’t hypocrisy, either, but character studies that aren’t afraid to cross that boundary.
“SUCH FORCED PAIRINGS ARE AKIN TO RAPE!”
They’re fictional characters on paper, or on screen.
It’s not rape if the author decides they’re consenting.
Or like the meatball commercial, ‘Try it, you’ll like.’ So I tried it. Thought i was gonna die.
“Also, the fandom is also highly mysoginistic (by bashing any females who are in the story, KH and GW yaoi fandoms being major culprits of this).”
I’d have to see the story, but question if it’s actual misogynistic ‘bashing,’ or if that’s just your pushbutton.
“So a yaoi fangirl/fanboy accusing us non-yaoi fans of being anti-gay, close-minded, homophobe (and any other crap)is like a POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK! (see wikipedia for what it means if your wish)”
So, you ARE anti-gay, closed-minded homophobes, but you resent being called that by anti-woman, closed-minded gynophobes. You could just say so.
