Hey, Matt, you ever train with a volunteer fire department? Or fight real fires?

I fought a lot of fires in the Navy. It’s not all about lifting nearly doomed men. You need stamina to carry all that equipment and still effectively put wet stuff on the red stuff.
And, gotta think, if i get overcome by smoke, there aren’t a lot of men i want giving me mouth to mouth… Not going to turn it down, for fucking sure. But i would like to HOPE i could win the liplock lottery.
Maybe Mattie just wants to see a beefy juck coming for him through the smoke?

Anyone who wants to be a firefighter, and can keep up with the duties is allowed to be a firefighter.

The only requirements in firefighting are physical ones, and technology can mitigate such concerns.

And even before women were admitted as professional firefighters, I bet that volunteer brigades still admitted them.

Maybe less so then men, but I’ve definitely seen and met some women who could carry a man to safety! I don’t know, but I’d assume that there are certain requirements for physical fitness to be a firefighter, and I’d also assume those are the same for women and men. But then again, like KeithInc said, carrying a man to safety ain’t all being a firefighter requires, is it?

If that’s the case, then why aren’t you out there fighting fires instead of whining about it on twitter like a bitch? Are you not “uniquely qualified” enough? Are you not man enough to fight fires?
