This isn’t about religion because NO RELIGION forbids protection from disease except perhaps Nurgle worship. I grew up in the Faith. God was everywhere, in everything. Part of every decision.
But when I had questions, I realized the people around me were giving answers that came from their needs, not God’s. They had no answers, so they couldn’t tolerate questions. They hand-waived and asked me to trust the god that didn’t answer the question in the first place.
They didn’t have access to God for answers when they needed them.
I realized that seeing God everywhere was just a projection.
Without a supreme being behind everything, it was more wonderful. Seeing all the stars without having to wonder what God’s purpose was in making them? Learning about the planets, the sun, the moon, without needing the facts to fit Genesis, amazing.

God’s not necessary. God’s lack of action has no impact on events, god’s absence doesn’t hamper history.

And don’t you feel special knowing that you’re a consumer of suffering, not a victim.

Grown Ups can measure the rate of decay in a sample, and then DO MATH and determine how long it would take for half of that sample to decay.
We do this a few times with different samples of different sizes and come up with a really good database of decay rates. Without having to wait for one halflife to occur…
