I’ll play devil’s advocate only as far as to say that I do believe at least some of what she said was written by someone else - what 16-year-old would refer to her own generation as “young people”? If she feels this strongly about this sort of thing then she would have done research on it - so, assuming I didn’t miss a whole paragraph or two, why not level any parts of the speech at China specifically when they, in 2017, put out double the CO2 levels of the next-largest emitter, or as much as the next three largest emitters combined?

I only agree with the opening sentence insofar that if you want to include an LGBT character, write them as an LGBT character when you’re actually writing the story - a reveal midway through can work if done well, as can telling people that a character was meant to be gay but it simply never came up (assuming this was the actual case, of course), but simply taking random characters and declaring they were gay well after the story is over just feels cheap and pointless.

Of course, that’s not good enough for you, judging by how you talk about not only the characters in question but their entire series, franchises and even publishers are being “ruined” by their presence. You talk a single workable point to try to distract from the fact that you don’t want any LGBT characters, because being forced to acknowledge that gay people exist hurts your sensibilities.
