That is my dogma, my fixed assumption, and I have an absolute and desperate stake in that belief. If I stop believing in life after death, I shall find myself in a lunatic asylum very soon. I’ve heard all that [from TalkOrigins], I’m a big science buff. Although I doubt you will find the evidence to support those theories in a forum. Opinions? Butt loads. Evidence? No. Out of the many arguments, carbon dating is what’s most referred to. However, Carbon 14... has a trusted accuracy of just over 10,000 years (kind of funny about that huh?) And it is 'assumed' accurate up to 50,000 years. If you hear of carbon dating into millions of years, you are hearing a very confused and illogical report. Even still, nobody can prove carbon dating to be accurate... [And] I am quite well aware of the meaning of Theory. Maybe you should try to learn it.

I never said that slavery should be used, but the slavery defined in the bible is not immoral or wrong. Slavery, when corrupted, as happend in early America leads to great unjustices, but that doesn't make slavery, as the bible defines it, wrong. Communism, in theory, is great.

Here's my logic. If God exists then there must be natural laws(which He created and are easily observable) and supernatural laws(which He also created, but rarely play a part in the natural world). If God does not exist then, at no point in time will there be a 'law' in which science cannot explain.

[Why "True Atheists" don't exist:]

Logically, my argument is that any alleged atheist that considers God possible, isn't truly an atheist. Considering possibility or not is the title of this thread is it not? Any alleged atheist that asks themselves whether or not God exists is being hypocritical. "The definition of a true atheist considering God is self-defeating. Before you can consider any gods' existence you have to have had granted the possibility that there was a god. If you grant the possibly of God and now deny it, that doesn't change the fact that you personally considered him a possibly."

Once a person gives something possibility to exist, it exists, that person gives whatever that something is meaning, definition, and recognition. The only possible way to be atheist, or as the person I originally responded to; "True atheist" is to not be introduced to the concept of God.

My attitude towards science is very much one of mistrust, contempt and fear. Man had many comforts of faith in the past, such as geocentrism and special creationism, and science has done all to violate those shrines. I concede heliocentrism and evolution, but I will not let science touch God and the afterlife. If science says there is no God and no afterlife, then science can go to hell.

One of the usual pagan vomit is that the bible is innacurate and corrupt, to use an islamaniacal idiom. But that is a lie, a bald face lie, that bald face liars have no problems with, parroting their idiocy shamelessly. No the bible is not corrupt, and every word in it is accurate. In fact, the bible is the most accurately transmitted document on the face of the earth, with a multitude of historical documents that attest to the exactitude of todays text. Old Hebrew literal bibles are available with Strong's dictionaries for those who seek to gain better understanding of dark passages. But that wouldn't stop the bible haters from hating it, or accepting it, or reviling it, because truth is not what scum are looking for, they're looking for excuses to hate and to murder, and that's as good an excuse as any.

First, I presume the verity of the Biblical writers. Second, the writers claim that they were inspired by God and they are recording the truth. Conclusion, the Bible is a work of non-fiction.

If you say there is no reason to believe in theistic evolution, I will agree with you. I find theistic evolution the best way to keep my cherished beliefs without having to go to war against the facts. Theistic evolution is a compromise, certainly, but it's the only way to keep vital faith without resorting to creationism. If someone should convince me that theistic evolution is an untenable position, I will inevitably become a creationist, because full-fledged materialism is for me not an option.

He didn't have enough information to come to the correct conclusion, therefore he ought to have concluded the same thing that everyone else concluded. It was the safest bet. And it turned out to be wrong. This is the whole point of Pascal's Wager, if you'll recall. If you're wrong, it's better to be on the safe side.
