…MTG, the sad & disturbing reality is that under ex -President Trump, America First WAS just a slogan. Because to Donald Trump, all that truly came first and only was Trump himself. Everything else didn’t even have the honor of coming second, it could all just rot for all Trump cared.

MAGAs have no new ideas or knowledge or technology to bring a brighter future, just blind faith that "freedom" from regulations will lead us to the Promised Land. They want to recreate a rose-colored past whose time has come and gone. They want society to go backwards.

Well said, it's also the same with authoritarian cults, blurring the distinction between claimed divine intention and the personal interests of the leader(s). When the Watchtower sells a Kingdom Hall built and paid by volunteers for profit, it's "Jehovah's decision" and when it protects sex abusers it's "to protect the reputation of God's organization".
Here "America" and "the people" is whatever floats Trump's boat as long as it's the road to corruption for his own interests. Democracy, taxes, social services and justice are "the Deep State", true journalism is "fake news and the enemy of the people", etc.
