RE: r/MtF OP finds Buffalo Bill relatable, but is mad about the negative media representation for TiMs
Buffalo Bill is the prototype for every AGP "trans" male today, which is nearly all of them. They all identify with some aspect(s) of Buffalo Bill.

Buffalo Bill was based on the real life serial killer Ed Gein, just like the Slayer song Dead Skin Mask. People who transition don't usually do so by wearing suits of murder victim's skin, any more than they make lampshades of them.
Even trans people know "The Silence of the Lambs" isn't a documentary.
It puts its 'Opinions' in the bin...:

...or it gets the pointing and laughing again.
Now I’m picturing Wild Bill Cody in a dress.
Well, he did had incredible tresses worthy of a Pantene ad.
But serious, the OP thinks people like blogger Natalie Wynn or former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner secretly kill people to wear their skins.

Within the universe of the novel, the police named the killer after Buffalo Bill Cody because his Wild West show claimed that he had scalped a Cheyenne warrior during a battle, so it’s just a crude joke about the killer skinning his victims.

I know about Jame Gumb and his nickname but thank you for clearing up my confusion over Old West figures. I appreciate it.
Here’s a neat tidbit of trivia; Did you know that Buffalo Bill Cody wasn’t named “Bill” as in “William” but “Bill” as in “beak”? Look at Buffalo Bill’s nose! His nickname can be paraphrased as “Buffalo Beak Cody”.
Since bison don’t have beaks and “beak” sounds insulting, they went with “Bill” (as in a ‘duck’s bill’) which is also the same as “William - Bill”.
Neat, huh? That also explains the magnificent mustache, to de-emphasize the schnozz.
As a native to western New York, the only Buffalo Bills I can relate to are the NFL Gridiron team.

I assume Jame Gumb is the fictional serial killer's real name? I haven't ever seen or read Silence of the Lambs and I don't plan on ever doing that. Stuff like that just makes me feel bad.
That trivia about the real Buffalo Bill is interesting. I wasn't aware of that.
Confused?
