The earliest programming jobs were considered secretarial in nature. All that typing. Programming started out as a woman’s job.

As to logic, Grace Hopper could relate several conversations she had where military leaders had some outrageous demands for system performance, and she’d have to explain basic physics to show why machines could not be made to do that, sir.
